What does /g/ think of the Nvidia GTX Geforce 750 ti?
>>
GTX 950 75W has replaced it
>>
It's a meme card.
>>
Meme card. Cucks eat it up like candy for some reason.
>>
>>53543225
It's for poor plebs who can't afford a gtx 970 master race tbqh, you poor pos.
>>
the 970 is at least 3.5 times better
>>
>>53543261
Dude you are an idiot.

He is asking what we think about it.
He could have a Titan X and is just curious about the 750 ti.
>>
It's a good little card, but I'm not sure there's a reason to buy one now with the GTX 950 out.
>>
>>53543225
literally a piece of shit.

Like literally you could put a piece of shit and a 750ti side by side and you couldn't tell the difference.

Only homeless people buy them.
>>
>>53543225
Enthusiass thate it
Retailers use it as the gaming variant
Lear about the weird computer component that plays all games on low
>>
>>53543225
> kikevidya
> 2+ years old, Kepler architecture
> 28nm card when 14/16nm cards literally in 3 months
> a whopping 80GB / 16GP / 32GT per second

these things already belong in a dumpster today, and they will be completely obsolete once low end Polaris/Pascal cards start trickling out.
>>
>>53543225
meme card since the day it launched but it's shilled hard because it was a low end nvidia card. Better options are always cheaper than it but sites like to use it for budget builds for no reason.
>>
>>53543327
learn*
>>
It's actually a pretty decent card it'll last a while as long as you don't throw too much at it
>>
>>53543330
You're a fucking dumbass, it's Maxwell GPU

http://www.anandtech.com/show/7764/the-nvidia-geforce-gtx-750-ti-and-gtx-750-review-maxwell
>>
>>53543225
i have one in the machine im posting from. it was cheap, (barely) capable, and i knew it wouldnt cause trouble in a pcie1.1 slot and a g41 chipset while still being bus powered.

>>53543312
does the 950 fit this same profile? i wouldnt mind a little bit more performance from this machine. its definitely CPU bound, but having a little more GPU wouldnt hurt.
>>
>>53543225
GTX 745/750(Ti) is literally a laptop GPU (GM107 = 850M/860M/950M/960M) slapped on a PCIe card.

of course /g/ will fucking despise it, and rightfully so.
>>
>>53543449
No, /g/ despises it because its been marketed by the plebs as "the best entry level gpu card"

This ignores everything else in the market, literally nvidiots are eating it up and marketing it as such.
>>
>>53543225
i got my 960 for $20 more i dont really see the point

maybe for $80 but not more
>>
It's alright only if you could get one for $90 (or less). Was not worth the $120-$140 sticker price.

Got one of the version's with a little extra cooling and the 6-pin power connector. Reflashed with an edited vBIOS and overclocked it. Runs older games on med/high 1080p, newer games on medium, while being cooler, quieter, and using less power then the 5850 2GB it replaced.

Haven't done any rendering or other GPU accelerated work on it, though, because that's not what I use that PC for. Dunno how it holds up there.

At full price or minor discount, it's a grade D card. At a deep discount, it's a B. Get it cheap or don't get it.
>>
>>53543373
Yes

https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GTX-950-2GD5-OCV2.html

75W, no PCIe power connector needed

https://eu.msi.com/news/emm/?List=125&N=4201

>Due to this extreme efficiency, the new MSI GeForce GTX 950 models require no additional power from PEG connectors, but are powered completely through the PCIe slot.

http://www.asus.com/Graphics-Cards/MINI-GTX950-2G/
>>
>>53543225
Best model is the ASUS strix one, avoid the EVGA models due to noise and cheap components. In all honesty you are better off buying an R9 380-285 they are also power efficient and are much more powerful.
>>
>recommending 950 when Polaris 10 is right around the corner. With 60fps Hitman game running @ 4k, the whole system consumed less than 86w.

Literally the pinnacle of energy efficiency GPU in just 3 months.
>>
>>53543516
yeah this looks like a nice replacement.

i think my being cpu bound is probably more of an issue than the GPU.

fucking highest end lga775 chips are stupid expensive on ebay. and i dont want to just toss a q6600 in cause its cheap as it would be a speed drop even if id be getting two more cores.

>nice blog post

im just trying to squeeze the most out of old hardware cause im poor. not sure if i should just sit on any money to build a new machine rather than trying to pop a new cpu in.
>>
>>53543582
what about price though?
>>
>>53543616
Get a Socket 771 Xeon and do the sticker mod.
>>
>>53543672

damn gurl, i didnt even know about this. i might have to go this route. thanks for the heads up.

any special tricks/info i should know about ahead of time?

>>
>>53543818
make sure your motherboard supports it before you do it lel not all of them do.
>>
>>53543478
Can you blame them?
Faster than a HD7790 and doesn't need any auxiliary power in.

Priced horribly though, but it can handle gta v at medium settings and battlefield 4 at high settings.

I know because my friend has one
>>
>>53543858
yeah lookin into that now. thanks.
>>
>>53543225
For $90 it's still pretty decent considering it usually is able to match/beat the ps4. That being said its 2 years old now and showing its age. Soon when the 1000 cards drop the 950 will be 750ti price
>>
I wish it weren't dual-slot.
>>
>>53543629
What about it?

Are you concerned about price? Get a 7950/7970 and it will run circles around 950.
>>
>>53543867
>Can you blame them?
Blaming idiots is now against the PC culture?
kek
>>
>>53544030
i was just asking if the price is comparable. the 750ti and the 950 generally get picked because of the combination of easy to use but also cheap.

price vs performance, what of those cards end up on top?

what does "meme card" even mean?
>>
>>53544050
It means it's not AMD and therefore, bad.
>>
>>53544050
I assume it means that it's a card more popular than its actual merits would justify.
It really is just a laptop GPU on a PCIe card with a bigger fan.

>>53544077
AMDfagging is strong on /g/, but the 750/Ti really is a jew card
>>
>>53544050
It means it's popular. Which isn't justified in this case because the card is actually terrible for the price.
>>
>>53544044
Polaris 10 will compete with 1060.

Polaris 11 will compete with 1080.
>>
>>53544042
Eh my friend got a pretty cheap and decent gaming pc for 370 aud by getting a prebuilt with an i5 2400 and tossing in a gtx 750 ti.
>>
>>53543225
Save up and get a better card.
Also Nvidia drivers are shit.

Q6600
GTA 5 is playable on high settings.
No idea what the limiting factor in the system is, the GPU or the PCIe version 1 main board.

I owned one for a while. Its cool enough but the price at this point is a bit much. I've seen the price remain pretty damn steady on them for a while now. Worked well enough to play just about anything at 1366x768 on high settings but I wouldnt really recommend it for 1080 shit

i have a 750ti paired with an e8400 @3.3ghz at the moment and it plays old stuff fine, but it gets iffy on AAA 3d games from the last few years. im almost positive its CPU limited for me.

GTA5 is a tough comparison since its newer and seems to demand a lot of gpu memory.

im likely gonna swap in a quad core xeon like someone suggested above to get the max out of this box.
>>
Ok /g/ gaybois, I'm an Yuropoor and I want to buy a GPU in this price range, what's a better choice than this one ?
I don't care if it's AMD or Jewidia.
>>
>>53544750
>and seems to demand a lot of gpu memory.
I noticed that too, it completely fills the 2GB of the 750Ti.

950 if you want the meme.

honestly for like $100 750 Ti is the best card. Disregard spergs.

I'm getting shilled pretty bad here.
>>
>>53544900
Didn't know the card was $150 in Europe. WTF. That's why too much.

Well I bought a used 7950 for 70 USD. For some reason people are willing to sell their 7950s for a ridiculously low price, whereas Nvidia owners of past card generations still want like $200+ for their gimped cards.
>>
>>53544944
>Nvidia owners of past card generations still want like $200+
Jews will be jews.
Tech is more expensive here usually due to import costs. It's a shit hole.
At least I have my foreskin so I guess it's not all that bad, amerifats.
