In this ITT thread: post you're yfw when x86 dies

What happened to parallel buses 13 years ago is happening to x86 now. Just like parallel buses hit a wall and serial ones eventually caught up, RISC CPU architectures like MIPS and ARM are catching up with x86 now and will soon supplant it.

x86 actively shits on ARM for anything high power. The only place ARM has a foothold is phones and embedded devices. I don't see x86 going anywhere for the next 10 years.

I thought x86 was RISC with CISC backwards-compatibility created by internally using RISC?

X86 isn't going anywhere soon

Isn't that lower figure a bug? Based on top half it would be around the 1231 for value

x86 is CISC. "RISC translation" was just a fancy marketing name Intel gave to superscalar instruction-level parallelism in the 90s.

That has nothing to do with the arch. No one builds a highpower ARM core because there's no market for one at the moment.

RISC-V might end up being more suited to highpower applications, because all of ARMs products are aimed at lowpower applications you end up paying ARM while having to build the entire thing yourself so a free open standard might be more appealing.

I think someone has a 32core RISC-V cpu at the end of this year.

It's RISC under the hood
