Why do they still make USB 2 cables when 3 is objectively better

Why do they still make USB 2 cables when 3 is objectively better and fits into the same sized ports?

Because Micro USB 3 is a monstrosity that needs to be purged

You dumb fuck. That's micro b. It has nothing to do with 3.0 connectivity. You can have 2.0 with that end on it.
>>
>>53525382
>USB 3.0 also introduced a new Micro-B cable plug, which consists of a standard USB 1.x/2.0 Micro-B cable plug, with additional 5-pin plug "stacked" inside it.

The left (wider) part of the 3.0 connector is 2.0 Micro B, the right tumor is the extra 3.0 part
>>
>>53525357
I really don't see a problem with this
>>
>>53525306
This, plus there's still motherboards which support both and if you bought your mobo 5 years ago, it wouldn't support USB 3.0 at all. Yes, there are people out there who have 5-year-old PCs.
>>
>>53525295
Okay so hypothetically, you run a PC manufacturer company. You're bankrupt
>>
>>53525409
Oh shit. You're right. I've only seen external HDDs use it though. It's not like it's a popular connector.

Go back to your TV dinners and crocs then, you fucking pleb.

So? USB 3.0 cables are backwards compatible with 2.0 ports.
>>
>>53525508
Nice argument
>>
>>53525523
Yeah, but then why produce something with a more expensive 3.0 connector when not many people will get the benefits of the extra bitrate?
>>
>>53525504
>tfw fell for the GS5 meme

STUPID CONNECTOR

TAKES WAY TOO MUCH EFFORT COMPARED TO MICRO USB 2.0 TO JUST INSERT THE SHIT

SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH MOTOROLA BUT NO

ALSO FELL FOR THE SD CARD AND REMOVABLE BATTERY MEME
>>
>>53525572
So that you don't have to keep two separate production lines operational for a shrinking market.
>>
>>53525508

the primary issues with smaller usb connectors have been mechanical reliability (in mini, fixed in micro) power (in usb 2, fixed on 3.0), and data bandwidth ("fixed" in 3.0) not to mention reversability - fixed in usb 3.0 type c connector

yet /g/ shits all over this connector for no god damn reason because >hurr not symmetrical >hurr slightly wide

fucking function over form fags the lot of you
>>
>>53525712
>fixed in micro
bullshit, i have yet to see a micro connector that doesn't beak at the drop of a hat
>>
>Samshit doesn't use Type C in S7

You can use a normal micro usb, in fact that's the topic of discussion! The more you know.

>bullshit, i have yet to see a micro connector that doesn't beak at the drop of a hat

I've yet to see a micro connector that does break that isn't the result of misuse

I know one person who had his charging port on a nexus 5 break but then I've known dozens of people who have had to fix their iphones due to broken connectors
>>
>>53525789
just a couple weeks ago i bought a micro usb cable and it bent two minutes after taking it out of the package such that it wouldnt stick in the port anymore. didn't even drop it, was just putting it into my phone

More copper and better shielding is more expensive. Did this need a thread? I'm thinking people on this board are not very technical...

The little clips on micro B connectors are notorious for getting stuck down. It isn't a secret.
>>
Because Windows (and maybe other os's) don't recognize 3.0 on initial install. That may just be windows, but it happens.

Can confirm the GS5 grip. True, I can use a 2.0 but I like the extra charge speed and data transfer speed.
>>
usb 2.0 can have much longer cables than 3.0.
>>
>>53525295
there is literally no point in making a a usb3-A to usb2-microB.
