Gonna give Linux a try and decided to go for Linux Mint. However, I notice that there are several different ones (Cinnamon, MATE, kde, xfce). Could someone give a short summary on how they are different? What benefits and disadvantages do they have against each other?

i'm buying a windows 10 tablet for web browsing and watching videos. the standard model has 32gb rom and 2gb ram. for $100 more, the same model has 64gb rom and 4gb ram. is the price hike justifiable? windows uses 500mb of ram - i can't imagine 1.5gb free ram is fun to use.

I'm looking for a notation-only chess computer, and I'm not sure what to call it or how to search for one. The chess computers I'm used to playing all involve moving pieces with a click-and-drag interface.

What I want to do is type in the notation (descriptive or algebraic--either is fine) and receive the computer's reply, also in notation. I would not like to see any board or pieces for the duration of the game.

For example, if I am white, I would like to type in

1. e4 or PK4

and then hit enter. Then I want the computer to respond with

1. ... e5 or whatever.

So I guess I have three questions:
(1) Does such a chess computer exist?
(2) If yes, what is it called?
(3) Where can I get this?
(3a) Is there an Android app?

I posted in /wsr/ and nobody seemed able to help me so :

I'm in quite the pickle, as you can see. I just bought a new PSu, GPU and Case and salvaged some parts (namely the MoBo/CPU, HDD and CD player) of my mother's computer desk.

The thing is, her computer was a Dell and I don't think it was quite meant to be taken apart. I put the PSu in the old build, as I got it a week before the case and GPU, and everything worked fine. Now, I took everything apart and transfered it into the new case and I have three problems :

1.I can't boot the PC with the new case's button as I don't know which pins on my F_Panel I need to put the Power SW in. I tried googling for a diagram and it didn't help. Also tested with a screwdriver, to no avail.

I can get it to booth if I take the old case's power button and plug it in the F_Panel, which is a temporary fix, but it'll have to do for now.

2. When I am able to boot up the PC, my screen is all black. Now, I've tried with the old GPU, with the new GPU, with the on-board GPU, with another screen, and my screen is still black.

My friend told me to try and boot it outside of a case, which I did (and which is what you can see), and nothing changed.

3. I can't run a compatibility check because, since the MoBo is a custom-made by Dell, no website with a compatibility checker has it in its database

Thank you for your help

Prefacing by saying I'm just guessing, I don't know shit about car audio.

Either your auxiliary isn't installed properly/fully, or it's not amplifying the signal well.
Phones don't put out much audio power, whereas your CD player may have been putting out very strong amplified sound.

Check all the cables and such, and if the auxiliary you installed is just a poor amplifier you can find a way to amplify better. Easiest but not pretty would he to plug your phone into a headphone amp, then plug that into your AUX. such as a Fiio e6, which is 25$ and #1 headphone amp on Amazon.

i++ is called the postfix. ++i is called the prefix.
prefix increments the value, and then proceeds with the expression. postfix evaluates the expression and then performs the incrementing.

x = 5;
y = ++x;
//x is 6, y is 6

x = 5;
y = x++;
//x is 6, y is 5

Sup /sqt/ I'm a poorfag but want to upgrade my shit a bit.

Planning to buy an i5-6500 and an MSI entry level motherboard and some ram basically. My old power supply units are 300W and 350W. I'll be getting a case and a power supply (500W) for $56 but I'd rather reuse. I can reuse the old ones just fine but I might add a 950 in a month or two and that's some 70-110W under load... might not cut it. Then again the CPU is about 65W (max), ssd is 7W (max)....etc

Anyway I'm wondering... is there a way to sort of use two power supplies at once??? Like connect them together somehow through an adapter or just plug them both in the motherboard if it supports such a thing? Haven't heard of this but I'm wondering if it's possible is all.

Every time I try to install the cumulative Windows 10 updates released on March 1st, when my machine reboots I get stuck on a blue screen with a spinning circle before I can even make it to the sign in screen. The problem is described here:

>http://news.softpedia.com/news/how-to-fix-issues-caused-by-windows-10-cumulative-update-kb3140743-501298.shtml

But since the newer updates released on March 8th I really don't know which ones are causing the problem anymore. And yes, the problem still persists trying to install the newest updates too. I'm able to system restore at least, but if I'm unable to install updates it is very problematic. I can't shut down or restart without Windows trying to install those updates again, forcing me to system restore every time I want to turn off my pc. Please, I would really appreciate some help.

Not so much a "stupid question" but definitely something I wondered:

Is there a benefit to entering the wrong information and telling Chrome to keep the autofill data? Why trying to trick autofill when you could use a browser where you can turn this off completely. Use a sandboxed/virtual browser instance if you are this paranoid.

UK here too.
Cyber security modules are largely worthless when done as part of a degree, they're mostly just taster courses. You really need specialized certification or a masters in it (or relevant military/police experience) if you intend to go down that route and actually land a job. Those certs will teach you everything that was on the cyber security module anyway. So you may as well go with the OOSD course and learn the other part later.
The OOSD course is likely to have components that you can apply elsewhere which make it a more appealing choice right from the start. As a plus it would strengthen your knowledge and application of Java. That said, this is probably the harder, more boring of the two and won't get you any boasting rights like cyber security would.

You should try and arrange a face to face with the professors teaching the courses so you can get a proper overview of whats taught in those classes. That way you can make a more informed decision (because i could be full of shit) . You could also see about getting some sample material/books from the courses to learn from over the summer to see which you'd like to continue with.

Okay here's a stupid question.
I just bought an old iPod touch 4, and the guy gave it to me without resetting it. While at the bus, I played with it around for a while and saw that it had music control buttons on lock screen. When I got home, downloaded iTunes and resetted the device. Now the lock screen controls are missing. How do I activate those damn buttons? There's no option for it on Settings.

Bought a new secondary HDD for my computer.

When I hook it up via those two cables SATA and the power one, my computer freezes on the startup screen and won't allow for any buttonpresses

When I remove the secondary HDD, the computer works fine.

WTF gives? I mde sure my primary HDD was the top priority in BIOS so it's not trying to boot from the secondary one or anything but i get the same issue

The only thing it might be is that I just got the HDD out of the mail and it was slightly cold outside. The HDD isn't freezing by any means though

I hear clicking inside my computer now, as my startup screen is frozen with the secondary HDD inside

My grandfather purchased a SSD and did a fresh installation of Windows. Then he copied a few media files and documents over from the previous hard drive. All was running smooth. Then, he decides to plug the previous drive into a 2nd SATA port and we start having reoccuring issue where if the computer is rebooted, the system stalls at a black screen for 3-5 minutes before the power cycles and you see the bios screen again. When I unplug the drive, the problem stops. My problem is, he wants both drives in the computer and doesn't want to format the 2nd drive. What the hell can I do aside from formatting the drive to get the computer to reboot as SSD speed instead of tard-ass corrupt system drive?

So here's my deal.
I have a Xonar DG audio card (need it because my headset uses optical and there is none on my computer). The problem I am having is that I cannot get a "Digital Output" option as my playback device. The only thing that appears is a "S/PDIF Pass-through Device." It used to be "Digital Output," and I finally noticed it had changed to "S/PDIF Pass-through Device" when some features on my headset were not functioning. I have SPDIF Out checked on the ASUS audio center thing, and it is set to PCM (that's the only setting). I don't know how to get it back to "Digital Output."

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, even moving the PCI slot it was in. Neither of those worked.

When you reboot your computer it still follows it's boot-order.

For example:
Take a bootable USB
If your boot order is set to Boot from USB first, if you insert that USB when windows is running and restart the USB will boot.

Is there any good GUI program for losslessly cropping JPGs? For Windows there are two shit programs.[1] They suck because the users can't disable snapping and the copping frame can only be scaled at 16 pixels. They are inaccurate and shit.

no shit, they have to be macroblock-aligned otherwise you'd have to generate new ones, which wouldn't be lossless

Unplug your GFX card and then revert the settings. If you can't uninstall the program you used.

>>53529564
It won't boot to the USB until after the bios screen shows up, which won't happen for at least 3-5 minutes because there's a problem with the shutting-down part of the the reboot, not the booting part.

No, when cropping GIMP re-compresses it without using the JPG's imported compression.

Yes, but if you use GE to update it might only update needed files depending if the update is from the same branch, if is not it will update all files to avoid any issues, which is why sometimes the GE updates are smaller than the website update, Physx and Audio and 3DTV are independent to the core files and unrelated.

The downloaded version from the website includes everything and saves a copy in C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver
after installed which you can delete or use to reinstall or rollback.

Capacity, Used, and Size and avail are double-precision numbers, Count is an integer, Stacks is a generic collection.

Assume the starting values are not obviously invalid: Capacity > 0, Capacity >= Used >= 0, Count > 0, Size > 0.

Is it possible for rounding errors to result in pile.Count being reduced to zero?

int amountEA = in.nextInt();
int correct = 0;

}

public static int EasyAdder(int amountEA, int correct){
Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in);
int[]answersEasyAdder = new int[amountEA];
int[]usersanswersEasyAdder = new int[amountEA];

for(int z=0; z<amountEA ; z++){

int a = (int)(Math.random()*9+1);
int b = (int)(Math.random()*9+1);
int c = a+b;
answersEasyAdder[z] = c;
System.out.println(Arrays.toString(answersEasyAdder));
System.out.print("What is: " +a+ " + " +b+ " ?");
int d = in.nextInt();
usersanswersEasyAdder[z]=d;
System.out.println(Arrays.toString(usersanswersEasyAdder));
}

for(int l=0; l<amountEA; l++){
if(answersEasyAdder[l]==usersanswersEasyAdder[l]){
correct++;
System.out.println(correct);
}

}
System.out.println(correct);
return correct;
}

Why isn't the updated version of the variable correct from EasyAdder going into EasyAddition?
