Gentlemen, in your professional opinion, is a 600$+ chair worth the price difference from an average priced 250$ one?

I just went to the Herman Miller showroom in Dallas. After being there for an hour I dropped $1200 on a loaded aeron.

Never thought I'd do it, but it's a fucking great chair.
>>
>>53523498
i bought a 200$ from a chain office store. I put down for extended warrenty. i plan on returning it and upgrading to a nicer chair like that one
>>
If you can tolerate a used one you can have the best of both worlds.
>>
Yeah before I plunked down the cash for a new aeron I looked on Craigslist. They have a shit ton for ~500. No warranty though. So it's a give and take.
>>
>>53524508

This. 600+ dollar chairs are built to last. I'm sitting on a near-mint Logic 400 chair with all accesoires. Bought it second-hand for 1/4 of the retail price. I was lucky, though.

Expect to pay somewhere between 1/3 and half of the retail price. Also, if you decide on a Logic 400, know that the head-rest is shit tier. Everything else is fantastic.
>>
Looking at a haworth very task myself, anyone have any advice there on the company or chair? Can get it for 500.

http://www.haworth.com/home/seating/task/very-task
>>
>>53524447
That's pretty expensive to be perfectly honest
Would you say it's a fair price for what you get or are they banking on their fame and limited options in high-end chair market?
>>
>>53524770
not OP, but we use Herman Miller Aerons at the office. Never used one before then and never paid more than $200 for a desk chair in my life.
After using the aeron for over a year now, I would easily shell out $1000+ for one if I was working from home full time. They're that good anon.

Haven't tried anything in the $250 range but I upgraded from an Ikea to the one in your pic and it's worth it for the build quality alone. Ikea chairs just don't last.

Because ergonomics and build quality. You say this probably sitting on some $100 Ikea that will degrade in a few years. If you sit a lot then a $600 chair easily pays for itself vs going through multiple shitty chairs every decade.

After spending a while in the Herman Miller showroom, which might have the best customer service I've ever experienced, it was a easy choice. Yeah it's a lot of money, but I love playing on my comp, so I couldn't justify yet another shitbox $200 chair that would last a year.

$300 is not cheap. You're clearly a fat ass or someone who buys scams.
>>
>>53525460
Cheap is relative. If you're an adult with a decent salary surely $300 isn't going to make or break you.
>>
>>53525519
Even on an upper middle class salary blindly spending $300 is not cheap.

It's not my fault you bought plastic shit from office depot and generalized.
>>
>>53525589

And for the record you can buy good quality mesh backed chairs that are made for back support without spending even close to $300.

So what <$300 chair would you recommend?
>>
>>53525452
S Spinal posture is literally the worse thing you could do and you'll have a terrible back by the time you're old.

It's amazing how civilized white people have all these spine problems meanwhile even tribal people in Africa who do labor everyday have no back issues at all simply because they keep it in a J shape

>>
>>53525681

>>
>>53525710
OR they have a natural spinal posture while Americans have some unnatural retarded ass S spine that leads to issues while a J shape spine has been shown to lead to practically no issues.

Your can continue to kill your back with these shitty expensive chairs or you can buy a ball for $30 and develop perfect posture
>>
>>53525035
This one, I got it for 13 dollars from good will perfectly fine
>>
I'll give the same argument I give for spending money on a good bed. You're gonna spend a lot of time in it, don't cheap out.
Personally I picked up a Herman Miller mesh-looking chair for ~$700 and even after 5 years (I'm 160lb) now is still incredibly comfortable and you will stay comfortable for very long periods of sitting. Spend the money if you can and you don't hate yourself.
>>
Maybe. I have an Embody and honestly I am not sure it was worth the price. Its much better for my back and has the super long warranty, but it isn't really padded at all so it isn't really comfortable. However it is supportive and after a long session your tailbone doesn't hurt from the padding sinking.

It certainly has benefits, but it's hard to say its necessairly worth it, but if this one chair lasts me 12 years instead of buying a shitty one every 2-3 years perhaps its not such a bad investment.

My dad is friends with a master woodworker and he made me a custom wooden chair that's perfect. I've had it for close to 8 years now.

It's made of solid oak, it's all joined via strong wooden joinery practices and he shaped the back to perfect fit a proper back so you just slide right into it if you sit properly.

The butt is also cushioned.

He sold it to use for about $350.

Makes me pissed that office chairs are so expensive.

It is the year, 2016, and office chairs still cost hundreds of dollars even though they aren't even made of carbon fiber.

Feels like office chairs are an expensive scam just like how Texas Instruments continues scamming new generations of highschool teenagers every year with their graphing calculators they haven't updated since the 60s or 70s.

You think 3D Printers could lower the cost of office chairs one day or will they remain expensive pieces of shit forever.
>>
I think the point a lot of people are missing when it comes to the expensive chairs is that they'll typically be cheaper in the long run because you don't have to keep replacing broken and ratty $300 chairs for 12 years, which is the warranty period for Herman Miller chairs iirc.
