So, lemme tell you why I'm fucking hyped for this shit.

http://sulon.com/blog/sulon-q-sneak-peek

FX-8800P APU
undisclosed amount of RAM and Storage (probably 8Gbs, 128gb SSD and up)
2560x1440 OLED display
Straps to your head and runs windows 10 (fully x86. Could probably stick whatever distro of linux or whatever you want on it too)

It's too weak for VR gaming as we know it. But I don't even give a fuck about that.

I care about the fact that now, for the first time in basically ever, you'll be able to do quality computing in total privacy from an over-the-shoulder standpoint. Plug in a wireless keyboard/mouse (Or use the built in AR cameras to do gesture input), and immerse yourself entirely. Watch movies/videos, read books/comics, browse the web, watch porn, code, play (low-end) games, stream games via steam in-home streaming, VPN/Remote Desktop to a more powerful machine for other shit. But any of it, you're totally immersed in via this all-in-one headset. And given the AR Cameras in the front, you can still see whats in front of you. Browse recipes and shit while you cook. Watch a movie while still taking notes during a lecture. Code Monkey it up on an Airplane without Nosey Nancy next to you thinking you're ISIS, trying to hack the plane.

Seriously, I am hype for this shit. I know it will suck in many, many ways. But I'm ready for the suck, for the potential it provides.

>An audiophile would pay £1M for it if you told them it was a pair of headphones and the second ear has a reverb chamber for more realistic live sound.

Not even close to final production form.

So stuff that doesn't benefit from VR at all that you could do on a laptop/notebook (and most you can do well on a smartphone apart from coding or streaming a pc game) without walking around with a screen strapped to your face.

Or just leave your phone on the side with the recipe on it and not have to look through shitty webcams with a much lower fov than real life and have the lens steam up because you're cooking.

Also don't expect to be able to stream actual vr games to it from a pc because the latency will be way too high for head tracking.

I don't see why i would need privacy in public either I'm not exactly going to watch porn with people standing around me.

So everything you can already do with a normal PC and headset in total privacy with a regular monitor disabled. Brilliant.

Which is the thing. This doesn't do anything NEW in the least. Which I don't expect it to. It just does the EXACT same things in what I view is a better way. Like, yeah, you can watch a movie on your phone in your living room with some tiny-earbuds and enjoy it, but I much prefer to watch a movie in a Movie Theater. With it's massive screen, pitch-black room, and massive sound system. The experience is what makes the difference in that case, and in this case. I don't have to wear glasses with Oculus, because I can adjust the diopter of the lenses, and bring it into focus. With this, I can use it glasses free, in a perceptively "blacked-out" theater style environment. I had a GearVR and liked it for the visual experience, but felt it lacked the capability of a real PC.

And get oil, grease, fat, blood, and other shit on your phone? Fuck that. Also, link says this'll have full frontal vision due to high-FOV frontal cameras, and cameras on the bottom and sides.

>Also don't expect to be able to stream actual vr games to it from a pc because the latency will be way too high for head tracking.
Fair. But if you're not looking for Head Tracking in VR, it's not a bad option if you've got a fast network.

I mean, if you don't give a shit about people reading your personal emails and shoulder-browsing with you, then cool. I think it's annoying as shit, and end up using my phone more often in public than my laptop for that reason

Except all in 1 module. Meaning portability and not being tethered to a PC. So if you want to go lay down and still watch whatever shit you're watching, you've got the option. If you want to keep reading some dick online while you're hitting the bathroom, you've got the ability. Not nearly as powerful as a normal oculus-ready PC, but far more useful than a GearVR.

I never said VR had a massive sound system? I said movie-theaters had massive sound systems. The tie-in was that i was pointing out how you can prefer to enjoy content more in certain ways than another. A movie on your phone vs in a movie theater.

I appreciate what you're saying OP but this product is ahead of it's time and the tech just isn't there yet.
Plebs will care when iGlasses is released.
