How likely is it that these refresh next week?
Wait a week and find out ;3
They've been making the same laptop since 2008.
>>53504535
this desu senpai
Even the performance is the same.
Will be the same as last year, slightly more efficient CPU, and USB-c ports. not much of a big deal.
I hope they don't remove the jack connector.
>>53503845
Pretty likely I'd say. Although there is also a chance that they will use this even mainly for iOS crap.
>>53504535
That's the problem with perfection, not much else you can do. At best they could reduce the bezels but what else? If they make it thinner, battery life/cooling/performance would suffer.
What else could they possibly cut or add? Besides, let's not forget the Forcetouch trackpad.
>>53504668
>shit battery
>20lbs
>meme display
>meme os
>800 mhz
>boils water
>perfection
>this is what mactoddlers actually believe
>>53504668
>If they make it thinner, battery life/cooling/performance would suffer.
It's made by Apple. Battery life/cooling/performance are already utter fucking shit.
>>53504788
Not gonna argue the other two as I don't like Apple computers, but the battery life is great. Only a select few laptops have better battery life than the MacBook Air/Pro lines.
>>53504788
if it wasn't tapered apple could get a fuck ton more battery in there, and the taper makes long typing fucking insufferable.
>>53504763
Back to /v/, friend.
>>53504788
>comparing a huge brick with Air
Obviously a fatter, heavier laptop will have a longer battery life if it has a somehow modern hardware inside.
>>53504864
>le max r so thin maymay
>>53504923
>what is wedge
Besides, Air is obsolete either way. Retina Macbook is the way for portability, and it's 1,31 at it's thickest point.
>>53504968
>rectum macshit
>portable
The fuck outta here with your 20lb piece of shit.
>>53504992
Perhaps I was wrong about /v/, /lgbt/ seems like a better board for somebody with your anal fixation.
>>53505012

This guy probably uses a chinkpad
>>53504823
and NO other notebook unix-based can keep the battery alive like macs
I am expecting lots of changes for this generation.
>Skylake
>More powerful integrated gpu
>DDR4
>thunderbolt 3.0 which has usb-c interface and fully compatible with usb devices
>all ports are removed and replaced with 4 thunderbolt 3.0 ports
>thunderbolt 3.0 has native support for external graphics cards, there might not be discrete gpu for macbook pros since it generates heat and isn't actually required
>thinner due to thunderbolt 3.0 replacements
>possibility of 4k or 5k retina macbook pros
>macbook air gets removed
I don't mind the hardware
give us a better osx
>>53505111
>possibility of 4k or 5k retina macbook pros
That would be silly as fuck and reduce the battery life noticeable. Apple doesn't play the number game.
>>53505130
What is not to like about it? At best they could finally improve the software bundled with it. Notes and Pages is shit. iTunes might be the most pretty player but uses too many resources, Safari is kinda slow, etc, etc.
is skylake really that good?
>>53503845
I'd like them to make a macbook pro convertible tablet edition like the thinkpad X220.
tfw they will never do this.
>>53505203
>doesn't play the number game
>not remembering when they pushed the dpi of retina like mad cunts
dpi is a number fucko
>>53507780
Yet Retina was always in the reasonable territory. Not 4k on 12" or 1080p on 4".
>>53504788
20 and a half min is pretty bad for a laptop
>>53505203
>What is not to like about it?
Don't get me wrong, I do like it.
But like you said, better software would work wonders. Have a less bullshit switch for SIP. Supposedly it's getting a new file system so let it not be worse at the very least. There's never enough good performance, so if they can improve on that like they did with el capitan it's always going to be better.
Course there are things that I would love to have as well:
1. Easy to change locations for home folders
2. Change system fonts (I liked mavericks more)
3. If you're going to give people a dark bar and dark menus, try giving them a sort of dark finder as well maybe?
Aside from that, I don't know. There's nothing else I could want. It's never going to be windows when it comes to games but... why the fuck would you use a mac for games in the first place?
>>53505203
Letting us pick between fucking blue and graphite.
>>53507995
Ah, I see, given all the complains about Yosemite I first thought that your post went in that direction about El Capitan too.
Agree with all of your points and specially #3. It's funny how long it took them to implement dark menus in the first place.
>>53508068
That'd be nice indeed. The times when you could change it before SIP happened seem so far ago.
>>53507751
You can run OSX Mavericks on an iPad Air first gen. Don't believe me? Google it.
MacBooks are nice. My MacBook Pro 13 from 2006 finally took it's last breath earlier this year. That laptop lasted 10 years. 10 fucking years. Everyone in this thread bitching about Macs being shit has obviously never owned one.
>>53508237
I wouldn't know since I never owned one, but I wouldn't be able to compare the quality either between models. Like they could make a really decent one a decade ago, and make a really delicate one today. It has happened with many companies.
That's not to say that a macbook today won't last another 10 years but just saying.
>>53508308
I have 2 MacBooks. The one from 2006 is plastic. The one from 2015 is metal. Just judging from the outside, improvements have been made.
The perfect computers if you don't game.
Sadly i'm a someone who does, so I need my PC.
>>53505111
So everything the Dell XPS has had for awhile
>>53508381
Last december I bought my new PC for games.
Little did I know that I could use hackintosh on this shit without issues with my new hardware, so I tried it.
Results: I'm not playing games anymore. I can dual boot, but I just don't do it. First I felt I had wasted 600 on a PC for games for this, but then I also think about the fact that for the same 600 I wouldn't be able to get a decent mac. Kinda balances itself out.
>>53508436
>year 2000 and 16 of the Lord
>HDD
>>53508996
>HDD
You dont have to add the HDD, above it is a PCIe M.2 with 512 gigglebytes of storage. The hdd is just for extra storage, or a battery.
I've had MBPs for 2 years now, after using thinkPads exclusively for 14 years... The hardware is obviously untouchable in the realm of workstation laptops (and of course, hardware is more than specs)
That said, my next MBP will definitely be another used one. Skylake looks to be worth the entry if it has TB3 / USB C type ports. I was really hoping for WiGig though – and I might just wait for that
Thus far my upgrade path has been 2010 w/ gpu -> late 2014 stock -> and probably skylake soon just for future peripheral proofing. WiGig is strongly needed for development on dat 60 ghz band tho
fuck man i hope they refresh the 15" version along with the 13" version next year.
reminder that osx is the only os worth using on a laptop
everything else feels awful in comparison
>>53509201
OSX is shit
>>53509132
You tell it how it is, sista!
Save us based Scatman
>>53509201
I would grab a cheap laptop that worked perfect with hackintosh
And then remind myself that the trackpad is shite in comparison, and there's no retina display so reading wouldn't be that pleasant.
>>53508436
TOP KEK
8 years to close not even 1/10th of the gap in design between mac and those memetops.
>>53509132
>You dont have to add the HDD
>The hdd is just for battery.
Huh? Explain yo.
Besides, I read that the shit gets crazy hot, display needs manual configuration and battery life sucks (With Skylake for fucks sake)
The only really nice thing about XPS are the bezels.
>>53509309
Well, you don't need Retina for OSX glory but yeah, non Apple trackpads are still shit tier. Why the fuck are trackpads on Windows so shit in the first place? Google got it right from their first try.
>>53509339
>not even 1/10th of the gap in design
Please, do go on and explain this so called "gap" ...
>>53509375
The HDD sits in a expansion bay that can either hold
A: The HDD you see
B: An additional battery
I cant comment on the battery life but with a optional 81Wh of capacity i cant imagine it being THAT bad
I would assume also for any serious photo work any display would need to be calibrated
>>53509375
>Why the fuck are trackpads on Windows so shit in the first place?
Why the fuck is font rendering on Windows so shit in the first place?
Why the fuck is the kernel on Windows so shit in the first place?
God knows. They somehow keep making these decisions and never improving over years, and years, and years of complaints.
>>53504613
mom i posted it again!
>>53509450
>Why the fuck is font rendering on Windows so shit in the first place?
Wouldn't say it's as noticeable bad as the trackpads, others simply do it better. It's not something most would notice without using an OS with good font rendering.
>Why the fuck is the kernel on Windows so shit in the first place?
Well, it's only slighly adjusted since Win 2000 ... and the work to improve it would be monumental. This one makes SOME sense.
I doubt it's that fucking hard to make a decent trackpad. Shit is bizarre.
>>53509406
Ah, so there is an extra HDD shaped battery? Not too bad ... although I didn't see it in the configuration options from Dell, which means extra work for the customer.
>I would assume also for any serious photo work any display would need to be calibrated
The way I read it, even basic users could profit from it since the stock options are so shit. Though as I said, I got my knowledge from reviews only, couldn't care less about laptops over 13" personally.
>>53509450
Are you serious? Does no one honestly understand why M$ produces nothing but purely hacked garbage?
I guess it's cuz I did a stint at M$ out of school..
>Make 80% of your entire workforce H1-B
>Hire a handful of whitey the lead the H1-B
>Offer zero incentives for good work, and call it "done" when deadline hits
>Release
????
>PROFIT!!
>>53509770
They were shit before India took over though and most companies care more about deadlines than end result, they still manage to release something decent here and there.
