What does /g/ think of Slackware?
Groovy
was good for its time, but now, arch is the new slackware.

Better then gentoo
I've never used it itself but years ago Slax was my first distro and I had no complaints

Old AF desu senpai~
>>53501770
It is older than Debian
Probably the oldest distro still in use
>>53500868
I always wondered - why do we say gentoo? Why isn't it "install Slackware"? Isn't it the same, apart from having no package manager, so even more hardcore?
>>53502540
Install Gentoo
>>53501770
>"AF"
kill yourself
>>53502540
Slackware doesn't roll off the tongue like Gentoo.
>>53501217
But they have almost the opposite philosophies.
>>53502540
Slackware does have a package manager
Slackware is discussed to hell, what does /g/ think of Frugalware? Can it achieve my dream distro status by combining the speed and godly build management of Arch and the stability of Slack?
No systemd ...

Slax is bretty good.
Does Slacko64 count?
In my opinion it's really good stable linux. But it's really "basic". It's good for small VM's in KVM for testing some things, also i know some people who are running their home rack servers on slackware.
For me it's too basic (Arch/SUSE user here), for "production" or desktop i would use Debian/SUSE/RHEL/Arch intead of Slackware.

Slackware based.
Like CRUX but worse, especially now they use pule by default.
Slackware is basically a copy of Pat Volkerdings hdd
So, how many of you have used slack full-time?

Slackware is great, in my opinion. Good for learning too so patient and committed noobs can profit.
