I had 3000$ to invest back when the stock was at 1$ a piece...it's doubled and now I have nothing because I'm reject who can't make his own decisions and listened to his mother's "it's a gamble" speech.

Bravo AMD.
>>
>>53497143
Of course stocks are a gamble. I bought $2000 worth of Tesla stocks when they were about $33/share. If I didn't sell it back then I'd have over $13k right now.
>>
>>53497143
you have 3000...

why you investing with so little money anyways?

haha how the fuck do they own 83% of the $800 USD VR market when their primary demographic are people who can only afford $300 GPUs

They're bringing faceworks to vr. The video above was posted in 2014.
>>
>>53497365
Nvidia has shit latency so they by default cant to VR and their lack of async support is not helping at all.
>>
>>53497143
and just how much do you think VR matters to AMD's bottom line right now ?
Probably as much as an accounting error.

AMD has shit margins because they need to sell their products (outside of video cards) for so little because otherwise no one would buy them.
AMD stock isn't going anywhere like some floating turd left in the toilet.
>>
>>53497394
Wow I didn't know that you should email them so they can halt development on their gameworks project.

>>53497412
AMD is more like that tiny shit spot caused by the impact of the shit. Flushing it won't get it to move and you have to blast it with piss.
>>
>>53497412
No, you're absolutely right but if their stock is on the rise and I doubt VR is gonna be bad for them.

if you follow news stories about AMD stock you will see how there have been lots of articles in the past about how AMD will soar!

Their revenue is declining too

it seems like its only a matter of time before they go bankrupt/get bought out

AMD has better motion to photon latency which is why it's the popular choice for VR now. Nvidia will probably improve it for Pascal, if they're smart.

VR is different from GPU market share smart one
>>
>>53497275
As a VR dev, on the technical side, there is nothing more repulsive than the thought of a gameworks VR game.
They need to stop this stupid irrelevant bullshit and actually make decent GPU's. For VR, what they have is abysmal.

They'll release a card that has a 3 frame delay on the video buffer, I fucking guarantee it.
And reviewers won't notice a thing because fraps says it's hitting 60fps.
>>
>>53500880
Not that it even matters, gameworks VR will crash and burn since AMD is already entrenched in that market.
>>
>>53500909
They will notice when they get motion sickness from the shit latency.

>in this market
The market you are speaking of, is vastly smaller than the gaming console market.
AMD has a monopoly on the gaming console market.
AMD had a fourth quarter net loss of $102 million in 2015 despite having a monopoly on the gaming console market, and it's still losing today.

Think about this for a moment.
>>
>>53501161

Folks will pay $400-$500 for a console with an AMD chip, but I imagine those margins are garbage. It's not like AMD made the whole shebang, so they see a tiny fraction of that device that barely makes a profit anyway.

I'd argue the real money in the console market is from the ecosystem -- you may spend $500 on a Xbox One, but you're also going to spend up to $60 for each game, and probably spend $5 a month on an Xbox Live sub.

Now imagine that your name is Nvidia and companies spend $2500-$5000 per card to run CUDA-accelerated workflows (because you've invested heavily in this space). The largest CUDA card deployment I can find is Oak Ridge, which has 18,688 K20s -- assuming $2500 a card, that's $46 million.

Nvidia has made money /not/ by being cheaper, but being better -- and not necessarily with hardware. Nvidia's developer docs are fucking amazing, whereas AMD's are kind of light. That being said, AMD doesn't own OpenCL (that's a Khronos group thing) like Nvidia owns CUDA, so the ball isn't entirely in their court.

TL;DR: AMD has built a business over being the cheaper solution, if not necessarily the better one. I'd love to see that change in a long-term way, but I don't know if that's going to happen.
>>
>>53502350
No way it is gonna happen.

Intel and Nvidia control the market, and I am pretty sure if they wanted, they could kill off AMD at any time.

Not sure why so many articles came out in march about AMD, maybe earnings reports around that time ?

Anyways, you see, given enough people you will invariably find people who tell you AMD is going up and to buy, and of couse people that will say to stay away from AMD.
>but of course you will see more articles telling you what to buy rather than what not to buy
