Free software usually has ports for all OS because the free software model allows for it.
That said ports for windows are usually not very good compared to unix-like OS versions. For example blender, gimp, mpv, firefox or krita work better on GNU/Linux than on windows.
A non-bloated GUI and a functional shell.
