Is it worth the money buying a 1920 x 1080 monitor and replacing it with my my 1680x1050 monitor or is the difference too small to justify the cost?

I went from 1680x1050 60hz to 1980x1080 144hz

Really only noticed the better colours and the higher refresh rate, the higher resolution really didnt change that much

Especially if u have a bad pc its not worth it

Too expensive for me

Replacing it for*

No, you're moving to a much worse aspect ratio. The few additional pixels are not worth it.

Just save more money and get a 1440p or 2160p monitor.
>>
>>53483234
How old is the old one?

About 4 years old

get a 1440p one senpai, they're not much more than 1080p
2x 25" 1440p @60hz here and it's such an improvement over 1080

This

I have a question. I have an r9 390 and a 1440x900 IPS monitor. Should I get a 1080p or 2k screen? Isn't there some way to run games at 1080p on a 2k or 4k screen so it won't impact performance too much? Also should i get a TN panel and just use my monitor now to watch videos and movies where color really matters?
>>
>>53483504
Isn't 2k exactly the same thing as 1080p?

it won't impact the performance, you could use an 8k monitor and still run your game in 1080p, doesn't matter

2K is a digital cinema standard that's very close to 1920x1080, but slightly wider. 2k monitors exist, but they're very expensive, I don't know why you would be buying one. It's the same with 4k, 3840x2160 isn't actually 4k. Get the highest res you can reasonably afford.

Don't combine IPS and TN, they look awful together, TN just can't do vibrant colour. IPS is cheap enough now that TN should not even be a consideration. You can run games scaled, sure, it will look a bit blurry, but should be fine if you keep the same aspect ratio.

Gaming but usually oldish games since I'm still using a 560. Most of my money will be going towards the new gtx 1080 or whatever it is, if it turns out to be good
>>
Get 4k
When I look at 1080p now I'm literally embarrassed that I used to like it
>>
>>53483621
2k is double 720 dimensions
4k is double 1080p dimensions
>>
16:10 or 16:9, which you prefer?
>>
>>53484228
There's literally no reason to not go 16:10 if given the chance
>>

>2k is double 720 dimensions
Might want to check your math there.
