they managed to make a lightweight universal music player on linux (and on linux only, it's damn awful on windows), but it does have bloat. I wish it would come bare out of the package and I opted on what I wanted.
There's not one time I don't rage at the animations, that generated song thingy and crossfades. Then I laugh at the rain and hypnotoad functions.
So much fucking clutter.

foobar2000 is great. I install wine just to use it. Specially because of soundtouch.

I broke (?) clementine somehow and can't scrobble anymore (the login via web doesn't work; they ditched the inbuilt login for god knows why), so I switched back to deadbeef because rhythmbox don't have the very basic 'repeat song' function LMAO. That crap comes with ubuntu and fedora. It's unbelievable.

I havent updated mine in years and I remember it didnt hold back on bloat back then (why include a fucking web browser with a music player?) but never felt slow in the slightest. Whats wrong with it now?

I didn't open this, I think it's awful, specially the colors. Change the colors, the layout is ok.

the theme from the url looks basically like pic related.

you have to enable layout editing mode and sort yourself to get to this, though. What I posted is a shortcut.

Hmm, feels like that was just personal experience. Clementine is the final product of foobar when I'm done customizing, that's why I like it.

It's not perfect by far, like you can't really change the tags and transcoding takes ages.

I mean, Clementine is a fantastic player, If it came with all its uniquenesses implemented but turned off (and therefore hidden, if possible), I'd like it more.
The fact that they ditched the inbuilt last.fm login dialog in the last versions is what's been killing it for me.

What I like in foobar2000 that sets it apart for me:
>indexing shit from archives
>soundtouch (tempo/pitch controller)
I found plugins with this functionality for rhythmbox, but for some reason I couldn't install it
>context menu file manager
this is wonderful. being able to move/copy things around and organize everything into its own folders based on the tags is just great.
>upnp plugin
it's the easy route for me. all files are already indexed, you just need to start the server.
