> Current macbook unbeaten on design and engineering

> b...but muh upgradeability, everything is soldered on!
Nope, SSD is user replaceable
> What about RAM?
Base model already comes maxed out at 16GB, nothing to upgrade here
> B...but.. what about the CPU? Can you upgrade it?
Base model comes with a quad-core i7, nothing to upgrade for at least 5 years
> what if the ram or gpu fails?
Apple will replace the whole mobo for free
> Ok anon, I'll admit, I'm a poorfag

Being a poorfag is the only acceptable reason for not owning a Mac, also the redesign will probably BTFO everything for the next 5 years again.

> pic related, superior Apple engineering using every bit of space to fit a huge battery and two fans for the quad-core CPU, Thinkfag has only one fan, dual core CPU and 2 hour of battery life
>>
There aren't any new Macbooks on the release slate until June. The In The Loop event is for the iPhone SE and the new iPad.

Base actually comes with 8GB i5 processor and an integrated graphics card in the 13" model
Razer stealth has an i7 and is like $300 cheaper than the 13"
>>
>>53475593
The 28W version of the i5 on the 13" Pro massively outperforms the voltage starved 15W i7 on the Razer, also the 13" Pro has Iris Graphics, the i7 just has the standard Intel Integrated.

That's not enough for the next 5 years.

Also, I want magnesium alloy, not shitty cheese grade 2024 aluminium.

Has the hinge gap actually caused any issues in day to day use? Or are people still complaining that it doesn't look good?

It actually scratches every surface you put it on, also it bounces a lot.

Basically a huge fail for microsoft.
>>
>>53475797
At least it doesn't scratch like the Macbook
But this is exactly why I waited until the 3rd generation before buying into the Surface, first generation or 2 is always going to have problems

>>53475767
They were made by Vizio, no one bought them
>>
>>53475797
>scratches every surface you put it on
>dat mohs hardness
Just goes to show how much of a superior material magnesium alloy is compared to "aerospace grade" aluminium.
>>
>>53475829
No, it just shows how their meme hinge touches the surface even though hinges are not supposed to touch surfaces.

Enjoy hinge problems after the warranty is over.
>>
>>53475750

In my case, I would carry it in my backpack with my textbooks. I'd be worried about the books slamming into it and breaking the hinge. I've played with those Surface Books before and the hinge seems pretty strong (the screen still wobbles pretty easily) but I wouldn't want to risk it.

Like >>53475767 said, I would buy the Surface Book in a heartbeat if it was a laptop with a normal hinge and no stupid gimmicks.
>>

I think the hinge will last just fine if it's fucking over tables like that instead of being fucked over itself

Or not being forced to use Mac's OS, and having superior options in both the Surface and Google's Chromebooks.

inb4 you can replace it, why the fuck would anyone buy a more expensive version of the same hardware just to run a pretty looking linux box
>>

There's only 20 or so 183-week periods in a human life, doesn't seem too small.
>>

Pointless thread, OP

People that cant afford Apple will find any reason to hate it. There is nothing you can say that will change their minds but the truth is that the majority of these people would change their opinion if they end up owning one of their products.

I used to hate macs. I thought they were just too overpriced. But I was an underage gamer poorfag. Once I got myself a job and started to make real money I said fuck it and bought one. I can honestly say its worth every cent.
>>
>>53476662
I don't have anything against the quality of Apple products (apart from their choice in metals for enclosures).
I do however dislike their business practises and prefer to spend my money with other manufacturers that give better value for upgrades and components.
>>
>>53476662

Windows consumes 600MB RAM on idle and the initial install consumes 3.9GB compared to 3.7GB RAM on idle on OSX El Cap and 11.9GB for the OS install.

Use the extended battery option if you get the 4k display then if screen resolution and battery time are important. I know MACTODDLERS dont like to make choices and research their option, but when your spending this much money its better to make a INFORMED choice.

You're full of shit and probably underaged. Every review of the xps 15 has the battery life no way near the manufacturer rating or even 7.5 hours. And the xps keyboards are mushy as hell.
But hey, keep calling me a "MACTODDLER" you want, doesn't justify how shitty your laptop is. I'm happily typing away on my surface book getting 10 hours of battery life.

What the fuck are you even talking about? A gaming laptop is shit but not for any reason you mention.

Bottom line, a Macbook's distribution of investment goes like this:
400-800$ ~ actual components costs.
1000-1500$ ~ brand power.

Nothing else. OSX is not sold as a separate product so it has no perceived cost.

I never got this complaint, it doesn't bounce at all while typing. It moves a bit when you touch it in laptop mode but that's true of all 2-in-1s.
The bouncing people are complaining about isn't from the screen moving in the hinge, it's the whole laptop rocking when on your lap since most of the weight is in the back.

You can easily replace thinkpad without getting some specialized screwdriver or call apple support to schedule appointment.

Mobile Workstation Thinkpad with 32gb-64gb exist.

>Apple will replace the whole mobo for free
If you buy it new or reburished from Apple, you get a 1-year warranty. After that you going to have pay Apple big bucks if your mac breaks down. Whereas a Thinkpad is serviceable and has replacement parts throughout it's lifespan. You cannot buy a macbook from Ebay, then call Apple to give your service. They will just tell you to fuck off.

>Muh Poorfags meme
You don't get it. Brand new manufactured Thinkpad costs just as much as Macbook, if not more. They are targeted at Businesses, not neckbeards. You are too stupid to realize that poorfags are buying thinkpad in the second hand market. When you buy a second hand Thinkpad for 400-300 buck, you can upgrade it. If you buy a used i5 cpu Macbook pro, you stuck with a used i5 cpu macbook pro.

Frugality isn't being poor, fuck off.

That's the 2012 model Apple keeps around to sell to schools, since it's the only model with an optical drive.

If there are Macbook announcements at the event this month, I can strongly predict this 2012 model will quietly fall off the product line.

Screenshot this, mark my words, etc.
I correctly predicted the quiet removal of the iPod Classic back when the iPhone got to 128gb storage.

Who needs more than 16gb on a laptop?

>>casually forgets to mention battery

9 hours on the 15", 10 hours on the 13".

>>casually forgets to mention Intel graphics

Apple always use the chips with the Iris Pro graphics, top of the line Intel graphics. It's not crazy amazing, but it gets the job done unless you want to want to game at full Retina resolution.

On the other hand, you could not cheap out and buy the top spec machine with the nVidia GPU.

>You cannot buy a macbook from Ebay, then call Apple to give your service. They will just tell you to fuck off.

This is patently false.

Apple only stop hardware service for their products after 5 years from the date that product was last sold.
Just this month, hardware support ended for the Mid-2010 15" Macbook Pro. They'll still provide as much software support for them as you like, as those computers still support even the latest version of OSX, but they just don't make the parts for them anymore.

Apple don't give a shit if the device is second hand, or even fucking stolen (unless you're asking for an iCloud/firmware unlock), they service device in front of them.

You are, if the original purchase warranty is in place. 1 year manufacturer's warranty stays with the device, regardless of the customer who owns it.

Well no shit, it's the same for any fucking product.
It doesn't mean Apple well "tell you to fuck off" if you bring in a second hand unit, they'll still repair it.

The difference is, Apple sells refurbished products at a discount, but they still keep their full manufacturer's warranty, as well as any local consumer law protection the same as any new product.
