Is there a company more based than AMD?

I wonder which company will acquire AMD after its bankrupt
Releasing a new CPU microarchitecture that was actually worse in single core performance than your own 4 year old one is pretty innovative, no one's ever done that before.
>>Always pushing for open source
Huh?
I don't know the state now, but historically their graphics card drivers for Linux were abysmal. AMD was always a no for Linux users.

AMD is at least trying, and I respect them.
I wish they made better drivers though.

Linux drivers have nothing to do with opensource software.

Used to be ATI back then
>>53469502
What the fuck?
>>53469507
Pretty sure this problem existed after AMD taking over ATI.

If they're so innovative, then why is their CPU IPC so fucking atrocious? Their MOAR CORE BIGGER CLOCK philosophy failed miserably.

gud meme.
Especially when it comes to them open source linux drivers amirite?

And basically a whole open-source gameworks (which they made before novidya created gameworks to gimp them in games).
>>53469612
Don't know but my FX-6300 clocks way better and beats the 645
amd is innovative for how little money they have
>>53469658
No shit. The difference is not worth the price
>>53469641
These all are pretty recent developments, OP said "always".
If they are so great, tell me please why catalyst is not FOSS.
>inb4 the one from freedesktop
Lacks features still.
>>53469641
can you imageine how great would those features be if you had actual drivers on top of them?
>>53469428
>implying AMD would be any better than Novidia if you'd switch their places in the food chain
>>53469658
It does, but the issue is that the single thread performance is barely better-- I still can't get 60fps constant in Dark Souls w/ DSfix.
If I had upgraded to even an i5 2500k, I would be able to play Dark Souls @ 60FPS constant right now.
AMD has superb multi-threading, but the issue is that if you want to play older games Intel will just blow them out of the water in terms of performance.
>>53469685
True if you bought a FX, I haven't owned a 645, upgraded from a Q6600 and it was worth it I'd say

Microsoft.

So true now that I think back
>>53469783
Everyone conveniently forgets the P4 fiasco. Intel pretty much got away with it so it didn't hurt their bottom line, where as it's fucked over AMD. I do wonder what the scene would be like now had all pre-built systems had the Athlon XP CPU in them during that phase.

prolly PRC government using fake/proxy company. They already done that with Motorola, Micron and Fairchild and now they've set their sight on TI

at least you had an excuse why you couldn't beat ornstein and smough on your own.

The losing company always tries to seem like the good guys.
In the end they're all good goys working for their secretive corporation that re-verse engineers rosewell tech.
