Help /g/ I think my GTX 460 is dying.
This is a 5+ years old system with a 1st gen i5, but it still works fine for what I usually do.
If I am to replace the GPU with some mid-range graphics card what would you recommend?
I'm willing to spend 200€ - 250€ maybe a bit more if it's really worth it.

Should've mentioned I'm switching to Ubuntu 16.04 when it's out as my main OS so, good Linux drivers should be something to consider too.
>>53468466
Did someone seriously put a sticker on top of the cpu?
>>53468540
that's where it goes dumbass to verify that you have legally purchased this processor you stamp it with the one time use sticker from the box
I'm looking at the GTX 760, it's around 200€ and seems pretty capable for 1080p
>>53468669
The sticker is for your case dumbass

Enjoy your house fire
>>53468766
I had a 460 for more than 5 years, I'm used to the heat.
>>53468727
>760
>200€
That wasn't even a very good deal in 2013.
>>53468727
That's a terrible deal, you dumb little cuck.
>>53469014
Ok, the latest cards in the 200€ range are the GTX 960 and the R9 380
The R9 looks good but I'm worried about the Linux drivers.
>>53468466
r9 290
>>53469055
Why would you buy a gameburger graphics card for a linux meme? Anyway, AMD drivers are fine if you are going to use proprietary one and not the opensource shit.
>>53469178
I believe I can still run Windows on a VM for games.
>>53468766
It's pretty good desu
I have 460 as well, case is pointed under the desk so during playing vidya it warms my legs.
>>53468669
this is a troll..
r...r..right g..guys?
Just bend over and get a GTX960
Also, what's been going on with reCaptcha centering around pick up trucks and taxis lately?
>>53469217
Just spend 20$ for w10 licence on kinguin and dual boot
>>53468466
r9 380 is easily the best card at this price atm.
If you're not really looking for an upgrade and just need a replacement, the 750 Ti is pretty solid. Outperforms a 460 and is energy efficient as fuck, which means it runs cooler than other cards.
In either case, depending on your motherboard, you might run into compatibility issues since you're throwing modern cards in an old as shit board. You should be fine in most cases if it's a 1st gen i5 board, but I've seen issues with newer shit if you have a prebuilt system or a motherboard from a shitty manufacturer. Sometimes a BIOS update can help it though.

380 famo
>>53468466
Get the R9 380x

>>53470354
These Guys get it, go for a 380-290-390 my friend.
>>53470278
Motherboard is a Gigabyte P55A-UD4
I never updated the BIOS
I've had a build with a 460 in that died a few months back, the card lasted years so I bought another one for like £50 and it seems to be doing the job. It's no Bitcoin miner but it runs GTA V pretty well so I'm content.
>>53471000
Isn't that just wasting money?
Why didn't you take the chance to update?
>>53468466
The answer to your question is GTX 760.
i would buy a used gtx 960 4gb at ebay should be at 170 if youre lucky, get a new psu ! if you have a little more money get a 380x, which i5 do you have ?
Are we seriously going to ignore the fact that OP put THE FUCKING STICKER ON THE PROCESSOR?!
>>53468466
just fucking wait a month for the new cards
>>53472838
its bait
>>53468669
This guy gets it
the r7-370 is cheap as fuck and is on par with the gtx-950
