Windows 10 automatically updated my laptop, and now I can't use my headphones anymore. Under playback devices all I'm getting is speakers.

I don't normally like to post opinions, especially negative ones, on the front page. In this case, I can't resist, as this bastardization of Windows makes me quite angry. Having used every version of Microsoft's operating systems since 1988 (MS-DOS 5.0), this is the first time I truly believe that Microsoft has lost its way. To put it bluntly, Windows 10 is a mish-mash of interfaces, and in some cases borderline deceptive options, mainly to serve Microsoft's dubious ambitions in the mobile device arena, rather than consumers and businesses. It will only serve to further confuse and alienate the average PC user, and hasten the PC's demise. I've used Windows 10 as my daily OS since the Preview back in January 2015, and I can honestly say it seems like one step forward, four steps back when compared to Windows 7.

Had a mental breakdown yesterday because of the file managers white background in win10. I got the free win10 and it's (as far as I know) unchangeable and I can't go back to win 7 as I have owned this win10 longer than 30 days. No other complaints

I swear Windows 10 offers nothing really new or better than Windows 8.1
OneDrive integration has actually become shitter and now all my files have a big green tick next to them to let me know they're all well and synced, rather than the smarter, more efficient Windows 8 way of just putting a line at the bottom of Windows Explorer telling me everything is up to date.

On Wednesday night I was running windows 7. I had the know windows 10 nagware update ignored, and thought I was only getting security updates. I told windows to update, and then went to bed. With no extra user interaction, I woke up to Windows 10. All I'd done was Windows 7 updates. Nothing to do with an operating system "Upgrade." Well I nuked the fuck out of it Thursday evening and am now running linux. Sure I could have downgraded back to 7, but since it took it upon itself to "upgrade" me to NSA/Windows, I can no longer trust my operating systems update process, thus leaving my system insecure.

This isn't my first exposure to Linux. I used it as my primary OS for about 6 months, a year ago. Only reason I was running windows in the first place was just laziness as the refurb Thinkpad W700 I now have to use as my sole computer shipped with it.
