If you want a base system completely free of gnu software which you will then systematically fill with gnu software FreeBSD is for you. It's benefits are ZFS, PF, The port system, Stability, a Nvidia driver, and a cool logo. As it stands BSD is probably a better server operating than linux, but as far as desktops go, while FreeBSD can be a fully competent desktop that is as functional as a Linux desktop, linux is simpler to configure and maintain and there is a larger community. If you are comfy with arch I wouldn't recommend converting. Feel free to try it out in a vm or spare machine. A lot of users of FreeBSD are edgy teens(same demo as arch linux users), Old sys admins who prefer a real unix, old programmers who prefer a real unix, netflix, yahoo, and the two guys who do the bsdtalk podcast and make PC-BSD.
