The theory was this:
>too lazy to copy files on usb or make share
>ssh
>mpv [ARRG]Unlimited_shit_anime_720_mxims_.ogg
>get this
hmm...

Well if the system running mpv only has text, that means mpv, which by default sets vo to auto, will choose the text output mode. That's my best guess for you. You can actually activate this manually if you want, it is a vo option.

neat.
I figured it was due to the output stream being fed to the terminal. the sound was playing off the desktop. the destination for the file was mpv on my laptop, or in theory at least.

You're welcome. I discovered it by accident while trying to fix frame tearing on my old Thinkpad. Now it's gone and I'm waiting for a full BIOS for my new Chromebook before I drop Crouton for something more substantial like Alpine.

>>53438937
How did you get that to work? I installed caca-utils and performed that exact command and mpv just says that I didn't have caca at all and plays without any video.

Dislike. Fuck me.

Is there a plan for a full unlocked bios on chromebook? I might get one again if thats the case.
>>
>>53440045
works for me. It's slow as fuck though. And it doesn't support 256 color, or maybe I'm doing that wrong.
>>
>>53440045
hm idk i don't have "caca-utils" in my repos just need "libcaca"

Never mind. Had to use mplayer to get it working for some reason.

Depends on the model. I got Dell's 13 inch for the screen and physical build quality. Testing builds for the BIOS are out right now but they're not in full working order yet. For now, that just means you're limited to Linux, but can't install Windows.
