WMs are the best for older hardware.

How old?

I have a T60 with 2GB of RAM and run XFCE, and even with Firefox going I'm using just over 500MB of the RAM.

WMs are bloat.
So are X and Wayland.
A terminal multiplexer is all you need.
>>
>>53429993

I know DE is Desktop Environment. But what's a WM?
>>
>>53432312
Window Manager. Basically a way for X to display windows. Their pretty useful if you're using a craptop or if you care about bloat as they don't package many applications and use less memory than a DE on average.

What does a DE use to display the windows instead of a wm?
>>

A Window Manager.
>>
A few months ago, /g/ didn't even know what a window manager was. I started a thread about WMs versus DEs in terms of memory usage and functionality, and everybody was confused as fuck.

>"What do you mean using a window manager instead? Isn't that what Xfce is?"

Keep spouting your retarded "install Arch" memes. You kids don't know a damn think about Linux.

How can I kill it to test that out? It restarts itself if I end it and the service seems to have been renamed?
