OSX literally has the best of both worlds, it's simple, aesthetic, and modern for the common person (like windows), and it can also be 'riced', has terminal, it's twice as fast as windows, and basically better than everything other than games (like linux).
There's literally no reason why you should not own a OSX machine, and I just gave you the reason, try proving me wrong.

I get 7 hours battery life playing WoW in Wine compared to 1.5 hours using native OS X, what a fucking disaster. Throttles like shit in any OS X native game. Gotta really thank those guys at Wineskin that makes Wine bottling so easy.

The long answer is that "it just werks" is a shitty meme. No it doesn't "just work," it's just as obtuse as any other system. At best it's a shitty BSD with a UI designed for small children, and at worst it's an app store disguised as an OS where everything is bloated, overdesigned and overpriced.

OP, I kinda like it here on hackintosh. Probably a better experience than using an actual OSX machine which is always underpowered or overpriced.
Issues:
-Games run like literal shit on it. Heck even emulators. Linux is much better at this and it's supposed to be what people avoid installing because of gayming.
-The best performing browser is Safari and there's no embedded webm support, and half the time instead of letting me copy text it just thinks it's a fucking image.
-Font rendering is not -that- good. In fact I would say you get a much better font rendering from Ubuntu OOTB.
-Riced how? I can see less options than Windows on that subject. Tiling windows ain't ricing. A different wallpaper ain't ricing.
-PS3 pad recognised, can't do much to disable the blinking leds though.
-Thank god there's the Adobe suite on it because some shit like GIMP takes ages to open. Libreoffice too.
-Leftovers when uninstalling shit. I thought every file was inside every program icon because of this weird stuff about just dragging programs into the applications folder, but I guess I was wrong.
-Paid shit for everything. I wanted global smooth scrolling. Simple feature that I admit doesn't exist on Linux/Windows. "There's an app for that". Yeah sure, for -only- 10 bucks a year.
-iTunes a crap. Doesn't detect half my music.
-Only NTFS driver worth a shit is Tuxera and that's also paid software. Fucking hell paying for a driver.
-Terrible, terrible file system. Terrible. Even worse than NTFS.
