Microsoft have decided to close down Lionhead Studios and cancel their projects; this included the once upcoming Fable Legends.
Fable Legends was one of the very few games that Nvidia were touting to be good for them as they barely etched out a performance win over AMD in the early, closed beta stage.
Now with Microsoft having closed Lionhead, there will be no more Fable (among other games also) and puts Nvidia at a loss of one of their bragging points on DX12.

Good. DX12 ever was a meme and now this has been officially confirmed.

>Muh Windows 10
I'll enjoy Vulkan on fully supported Linux gaming in the meanwhile
Fucking Microshit has gone too far
>>
No one cares, because no one gives a shit about DX12. All hail our new Vulkan overlords. Live long and prosper.

I would switch to AMD if it will support full performance Linux (4K) gaming and they deliver a GPU that can beat Nvidia

Nothing wrong with 390X anon.

I can't wait. Then there's also this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5CA6KE6mSY
Skip to 9:25 and you see that, from AMD's internal investigations, its pretty simple to convert from Mantle to DX12. With Vulkan using Mantle as a basis for all of its development, Mantle -> Vulkan should be even easier. Likewise, this would mean that Vulkan -> Mantle (say if they re-released an AMD only version of it, similar in effect to GameWorks) would be stupidly easy also.

All in all, I can't wait to see how this turns out for AMD. I really, really hope that Vulkan v DX12 stops the whole GameWorks bollocks and lets everyone see how games really, truthfully run without any interfering from the outside.
>>
>>53426634
Still not gonna buy AMD unless they somehow beat Nvidia to the punch with working Wayland drivers that support Vulkan. Oh, and the next generation of cards better damn well have Displayport 1.4 or they won't see a cent of my money. My 660 is still perfectly fine and I can push it out a few more years if I need to.
>>
>>53426700
But nvidia still doesn't release proper drivers for Wayland.
>>
>>53426807
Yeah, but they're getting close. If AMD actually does surprise everyone and beats them to the punch, I probably will buy an AMD card. I'm not some fanboy, I'll buy what suits my purposes. Right now that's Nvidia. If AMD steps up to the plate and does their job, I'll happily give them my money. I'd hate to see them die off and leave Nvidia in a monopoly position, but I am not about to make personal sacrifices for lofty ideals. If Nvidia provides the better product, I'm buying it, no questions asked.

I fucking wish Intel would just start making graphics cards. At least they know how to do drivers right.

>Nothing wrong with 390X anon.

except for the fact that it's a $500 GPU that's outperformed by a $250 970.

the 390x is a niche 1440p gaymen card at best
>>
>>53426915
Didn't they create those Phi cards? I don't think they would ever develop gaming but maybe professional/rendering cards.
Also note, most of AMD/Nvidia sales go on bigger customers and not the gaming section. The gamers get the scrap chips and the most crappy chips will be placed for too much money in laptops. No one seems to think about it, a defective GM204 in a laptop costs more than a fully functional 980 GM204 in a desktop. Adding VRAM doesn't change this, I am also talking about the GPU chip only.
>>
>>53426943
Where is this mythical $250 970 you speak of?
>>
>>53426915
>intel in charge of graphics card drivers

The fucking iGPU drivers crash multiple times a day. If I had a penny everytime the HD3000 and HD4000 drivers crashed on me in Win7, Win8.1 and Win10, I would have enough money to hire chip designers, start a fab and compete in the GPU market.
>>
>>53427018
He's obviously speaking about used 970s, and comparing them to the most expensive newly bought 390x. Because that's what you do when you can't win an argument on the internet, you form a strawman.
>>
>>53427023
I don't know why Intel don't just open source the windows GPU drivers like they did their linux drivers - at least it might improve slightly with community involvement.
>>
>>53427102
Because they probably licensed proprietary code and included it in their Windows drivers and aren't allowed to would be my guess, since they seem to open source everything else.

Who gives a shit. F2P games are guaranteed to be cesspits.

Threads about amd only has a single purpose and that's to convince everyone it's just as good as competing products. You're subconsciously admitting Nvidia is better by doing this. You really ought to give it a rest or change it up a little.

EVGA GTX 970 have gone as low as $250 every month or so, the cheapest I've seen them was $210.
>>
>>53428905

uh buddy, every console port is AMD optimized.
>>
>>53428905
Nigga, the Air Fury is much cheaper than the 980 ti and its a draw
>>
>>53428994
In terms of performance It's a draw, that's what I'm saying.
>Ti 1 more max fps
>Ti 1 less min fps
That's why I said, feels good being red.

>>53428977
Isn't it being developed in UE4?
That's far from being AMD Optimized, regardless of it running in consoles or not.
>>
>All games are suddenly DirectX 12

I don't mind if AMD wins the next round - competition is good. But Nvidia has had the performance lead for many games currently on the market, and I feel like everyone is forgetting that.
>>
>>53429089
I know and thats kinda the problem.

I mean the Crysis 2 tesselation shit, 3.5Vram fiasco with the 970, emulated Async shit. I hope Nvidia falls big to a 50-50% market shate
>>
>>53428639
FUCK
>>
>>53429035
Every console uses amd hardware, do you think developers are going to bother changing the way things are handled by the hardware when they could just port it?
>>
>>53429177
The AMD SoCs in consoles are a bit different than the discrete GPUs in PCs. It's not as simple as just straight up porting the console game code to PC.

What?
>>
>>53429204
it is, developers and even AMD have said so.

If console hardware had nothing to do then you would have lots of ported DX11 games than run as well on AMD as they do in Nvidia.
>>
>>53426943
>the 390x is a niche 1440p gaymen card at best
It's kind of pointless as the Fury (non-X) is only a little more expensive and gets perfect 1440p performance (>60fps pretty much everything), rather than just 'nearly there' on the 390X.

Both the 390X and the GTX980 occupy an awkward spot between 1080p cards and 1440p cards. I don't really see the point of them.
