not dead quite yet, there are still some around that aren't tablet+keyboard

but yes, soon they will all be gone
>>
That new chinese gaming computer thing is like a netbook with a shitty keyboard at least.
>>
>>53418001
I sure do miss those 1024x600 TN screens.
>>
>>53418001
>literally everyone has a smartphone that's more powerful in their pocket
get with the times
>>
>>53418048

Not to mention the minuscule, hardly usable keyboard and lack of ports

And fucking Intel Atom
>>
They are called Ultrabooks now and they cost a bomb.

The closest thing I could find are Voyo Vbooks, some obscure brand from the ChinkShit General thread.

ASUS is still making them you big dummy head. http://liliputing.com/2016/03/asus-vivobook-e200ha-11-6-inch-cherry-trail-notebook-now-available-199.html

>In b4 "MUH ATOM"

Fuck you retard, netbooks have always been low cost, low power, high battery life machines. At least it's 11.6" instead of 10".
>>
>>53418268
Figuratively a tablet with a keyboard attached and with no touch screen. No thank you.
>>
>>53418539
if you want a tablet then buy one fucking idiot
>>
>>53418539
ASUS makes detachable tablet/keyboard things too. T100HA.
>>
>>53418001
>>tfw netbooks are dead
Good
>>
>>53418539
A tablet running Windows is useless without a keyboard and mouse anyway, no matter how hard Microsoft jerks it to Windows 10 tablet mode.
>>
What's a good 11" in the $400-600 range? Ideally something compact and with good battery life. I've had my eye on the Lenovo yoga 700, but I haven't heard amazing things about the core m series as of late.
>>
>>53418561
>>53418557
That's the point. I don't want a tablet I want a small notebook with decent specs, not this shit.
>32GB of storage
>can't even sync Onedrive on it
>2GB of Ram, probably not upgradeable
Shit.
>>
good
>>
>>53418068

The Asus 1101ha had both an 11" 1366x768 screen and a really great keyboard. Too bad it had an Intel Z520 CPU with the dreaded Poulsbo IGP, and the 11" made it a little too big.
>>
>>53418598
It can do Onedrive. But anyway, what you're looking for is an ultrabook and they are way more expensive for obvious reasons.
>>
>>53418598
Using the x205t, it does literally that. Put an SD card in it to expand storage and 2gb will run with sensible internet usage. Then it does that for 10+ hours. I take it on work trips without a charger.
>>
>>53418268
Have this. Easily has one of the best battery lives in the netbook market. Even on heavy usage I never plateau under 11 hours. My peak usage was 16 hours and I get between 11 to 13 generally, and 9 - 11 watching videos. Also lightweight, solid carry.
>>
>>53418598
I have a tablet/notebook hybrid (essentially just a tablet with a dockable keyboard).

specs:
60gb sshd
500gb hdd
1080p screen
1.83GHz intel celeron (kinda shitty)

comfy to use. The only shit thing about it was that it was designed to use windows, so it took a bit to set linux up on it.
>>
>>53418654
If you have Windows 10's latest build, it has built-in RAM compression making the 2gb even more of a non-issue.
>>
>>53418672
I've got a X205TA which is the late 2014 model. Not as powerful CPU/GPU but still not bad overall. Battery life is about the same.
>>
>>53418693
Model and price?
>>
>>53418598
Get an X series Thinkpad like X220 Tablet.
>>
>>53418126

Except thats what a Netbook was.

A 11" or smaller, cheap-as-can-be, ill-equipped laptop. Meant, to reduce costs, every major consumer netbook had the same screen, same mobo and embedded CPU and sometimes RAM, ran the cheapest licenceable copy of Windows, and were out performed by basically the computer equivalent of a fucking Chinese Electric Moped.
>>
>>53418745
It's a medion akoya tablet. I forget how much I bought it for, but I got it on special.

also 4gb ram, unlike 2 (which is pretty pathetic even for tablets these days)
>>
>>53418598
32GB is plenty
wtf is onedrive. i guarantee i dont care what it is
2gb is plenty

fuck off fagget
>>
They are missing a beat with these models though. Something like an Atom with 4gb single channel and an open sodimm would be nice. There's also pcie lanes on the chip set so an open M2 slot should also be possible. These little modifiable bits would make them far more attractive to myself, the 11inch devices aren't starved for space either.
>>
>>53418745
looked it up, P2214T (MD99430) is the exact model i'm pretty sure. I think there has been others made.
>>
>>53418788
As long as you got one with XP instead of 7 you were fine. The ones running 7 were practically unuseable.
>>
>>53418801

nah ill take an arm over intel, and 2gb ram is plenty for a fucking netbook
>>
>>53418788
original netbooks ran linux
>>
>>53418788
Yeah no. There are 11.6, 12.1 and 13.3" netbooks with AMD's APU like the E-350 or E-450 which are quite great. And they come with real hard drives and with non-Starter Windows 7.
>>
>>53418801
4 GB is a waste on a teeny atom netbook. And if you make the parts upgradeable you are adding to the cost. They are designed to be cheap as possible to compete with tablets, which are entirely integrated also.

tl;dr just pay extra and get an ultrabook if you want power in a small form factor.
>>
>>53418887
>13"
>windows
>netbook
>>
>>53419015
Yes.
>>
>>53418894
I was just thinking there should be space in the market for something in between, I know such things would increase the cost, but putting an extra *empty* ram/m2 on the already dirt cheap atom boards shouldn't change the cost of manufacture very much.

I've fallen for the passive cooled meme hard though, coreM is still too hot to be used in the most portable devices right now.
>>
>>53418598
What more do you need from a netbook?
The point of a netbook is a weak little portable pc to compliment your desktop.

If you need more power get a 14 inch i7.
>>
>>53418048
At ≤10" there is absolutely nothing wrong with 1024x600.

>>53418887
>13.3" netbook
That's not how that works.
>>
>>53419041
There's hardly enough space in the market to floss your fucking teeth right now. And I don't even know what that analogy means.

Tablet and laptop sales are both in the crapper, smartphones are eating both of their lunch. Desktops are in the same situation but even worse.

Adding yet another SKU to the list just seems pointless.

>hardly usable keyboard
Wut? I have a 9" netbook and can type at 65 WPM on it or 75 WPM if I don't have to worry about typing out weird shit like the names of Greek gods or other weird shit that I have to slow down and actually read. For comparison I can hit 80-85 WPM on the full size keyboard I have on my desktop.

>Recently found Asus clamshell EEE back in a box.

The perfect portable Dos game machine
>>
>>53419174
absolutely not
>>
>>53418598
What exactly do you need more than 2 GB of RAM for on a netbook? I rarely use over 2 GB of RAM on my desktop when I'm not playing games or doing something ridiculous and I regularly have a ton of tabs open in Iceweasel and Tor at the same time. I think what you need is a non shit OS, not better specs. Also, what do you need more than 32 GB of storage for on a netbook?
>>
Coincidentally I just picked up an hp 3125 for 100USD

>itsgonnabegreat.jpg
>>
>>53419306
this.

12.1 and 13.3 are considered "sub-notebooks" not netbooks.
