Now that the babby shit is deprecated, you can finally up your game, kazoku-kun. Tile Tabs.

removing this feature is making firefox great again
>>

It's much better than bookmarks as I don't procrastinate as often and review tabs constantly.
I'm not a retard, maybe a little autistic.

Well, you said it yourself, you have issues with focusing on a task. Get your shit together, champ.

the bigger problem is the unwarranted removal of XPCOM/XUL-based SDK add-ons and complete themes to pave the way for shit 'webextensions' and 'servo' nonsense. something-something bang but a whimper.

Wow a shitty half-baked feature with a choppy zooming animation was dropped. Even Pale Moon thought it was a useless piece of shit and took it out. Good for Mozilla.

they already broke chrome:// with e10s.
but tab groups still works!

>>
>>53408102
>Two tabs.
No? DD-WRT has a ton of warnings "if you screw this up you'll brick your router". I had 1 for the general flashing guide, 1 for the wiki for my router, and 2 for threads specific to my router.

>One tab.
Yeah cus I'm gunna compare recipes with a single tab? 1 tab for google, two or more tabs for a particular dish, then once I know what I want close the excess tabs and go back to google for the next one.

because his tripfagging is pointless and goes against the "vision" of an anonymous Indonesian basket weaving image board
>>
>>53408191
Nah, it's effective. Not having the DD-WRT tabs open could have resulting in me bricking my router. I only filtered it down to those 4 tabs after looking through a lot more because the information isn't all in a single spot. Cluster fuck without groups.
Comparing recipes without multiple tabs is just stupid. I don't need those tabs in my main group so I'll section them off. I can come back in a day or two and close the group when I'm done

Do you think Qt5 is better than gtk3/gnome?
>>
>>53408239
Disregard everything I said, it's a foolish topic to argue about. Everyone's workflow is bound to be different and that's okay. My workflow is terrible is disorganied too after all. It just that it's was worse with groups.
Hope Mozilla won't fuck up extensions like Tab Groups.
>>
I didn't even know there was a feature like that
>>

A feature I totally forgot they added and never used. I guess Opera users were happy for a while?
>>
>>53407880
>/g/ complains firefox is bloated
>Mozilla removes bloat
DROPPED
desu they should remove all features and useless crap like hello and pocket and make them addons.
>>
>>53408353
When they introduced it they advertised it pretty heavily but people just kinda forgot it existed. Even Mozilla eventually forgot about it which led to bugs piling up. It was also blocking e10s which was the main reason it was cut
>>
>>53408457
>useless crap like hello and pocket and make them addons
They are making them standalone.
>>
>>53408457
Tabs Groups is a sweet feature. They should have kept it and dropped the other shit. Hello is just a VoIP service that has no business being a browser (except maybe old Opera which had everything and the kitchen sink), and Pocket is a glorified bookmark.
>>
>Used for research among other things, the feature is used by 0,01 percent of all users of the browser according to metrics that Mozilla published recently.

It started out as an extension anyway. If only features like Loop and Pocket went down the same path.
>>
>>53408481
Not quite, Mozilla is making them "system addons". You still can't remove them through the interface. They're a fucktarded middleground between being an actual addon and being unremovable bundled adware.
>>
i tried using this feature once, it was useless to me.
>>
>>53407880
>hasn't moved over to chromium yet

It's like you don't event want to browse the web
>>
Hello and Pocket have no reason for being bundled, they're extraneous functionality that most people do not benefit from. Tab grouping as a concept could be useful for some but the way tab groups was implemented in firefox was just pointlessly complicated I think. The way opera handled grouping was better

the best way to simplify a system is to renove functions.

you can always customise it back, so i dont get the fuss. the more lightweight the base browser is the better
>>
>>53407880
Good thing I switched to Pale Meme when FF29 hit then.
>>
>>53409839
You could customize it back, but they plan to "simplify" that, too.

Mozilla communicated well in advance that Panorama was going to be removed and linked to the add-on (which is based on the internal Panorama code) so that no one would miss it. I've been using it since 43 so that I wouldn't have to think about it again.

It's understandable that they would remove little-used features that can be covered by add-ons anyway if it means the application becomes easier to maintain. This will likely lead to a higher-quality browser in the long term. The only thing I will fault them for here is not making Panorama more easily discoverable in the first place; a lot of people never knew about it which is a shame since it's so useful.

>>
>>53409797

>>
>>53409869
Firefox is moving away from XPCOM / XUL addons to API based addons. Unfortunately this means a loss in functionality. An addon won't be able to perform a particular function unless it's included in the API, compared to the current addons which can do just about anything provided you fuck with the code enough.

>>
>>53411590

The addon is nearly identical to the native code and uses native code, it shouldn't slow anything down.

meh, I used to use tab groups to separate the porn from the regular tabs until I realized I could just launch the browser in sandboxie so that the main browser wouldn't be affected at all, also less lag.

>>53407880
For $500 I will take "Flops" and my awnser is: "What feature whas dead on arival because of bookmarks"
>>
>>53412250
nigga tab groups are much better than bookmarks. Tab groups are quicker to open/close and are essentially auto saving. Bookmarks are for chumps.

it's a fact that tripfags literally never have anything useful or interesting to say
their opinions are also pure garbage
>>
>>53412326
I tried the simplified tab groups addon, it was poop. I couldn't easily rearrange tabs and there were occasional bugs when switching. The panorama tab groups works great though.
>>
>>53408404
what purpose does it serve anyway?
>>
Why would they remove that feature anyway? makes no sense
>>
>>53412519
to make room for more features such as firefox hello and pocket
>>
>>53407880
This was for the best.
The extensions that instantly replaced its functionality already do its job better.
>>
>>53412519
I'm kinda wondering why they even bothered to include it personally. They added it out of the blue and advertised it for a few weeks and then seemingly just abandoned it. It went almost unmaintained until now. They're unbundling it again because it doesn't work properly with e10s or something.
>>
>>53412605
>The extensions that instantly replaced its functionality already do its job better.
better how?
>>
>>53412623
There is one that is almost a 1:1 copy except for some nice things like being able to disable animation.

Then there are other tab group management extensions that work differently.
>>
>>53412519
apparently not enough people used it so they didn't want to maintain it. Probably nobody used it because the feature was tucked away under a menu, unless you customized the UI which REGULAR USERS NEVER DO. They killed it themselves by being dumbasses.
>>
>>53412648
I'm using that one.
I'll try disabling the animation now and see if I like it.

EDIT: this pleases my autism
>>
>Update browser
>You now have even fewer features than the last release

Firefox is such a joke these days
>>
>>53407880
FINALLY. Hated that panorama shit.
>>
>>53412666
oh crap, no animations is pretty quick
>>
>>53412695
No one was forcing you to use it dipshit.
As a matter of fact Mozilla went out of their way to hide the functionality so that they could later remove it because few people used it.
