Nexus 5 is up to its life span. Google only support phones for what I believe is two major updates. Nexus 4 lost future updates at Lolipop and Nexus 5 at Marshmellow.

Major carriers don't have many Nexus phones available and therefore the support in terms of repair is not great. You can still get Nexus phones on European alternatives to Ebay, Swappa, etc. If only Nexus 6P had an SD card slot, I would've bought it a long time ago.

The best thing about this multiwindow mode is that there is no meta-data entry you have to add to enable it.
In fact, if you want your app to be fullscreen only you have to explicitly specify that it cannot be used in multiwindow.
This means that unlike Samsung's and Apple's and other current multiwindow implementations, all apps should, by default, be supported unless they specify fixed-orientation.

Cyanogenmod doesn't have default dark themes, only CM themes. It also only has the multi window included in marshmallow, which was trash.
CM does not have native DPI adjustments, but it is currently possible with xposed modules.
CM cannot modify doze in any way other than activation time.
CM does not have pages in quick settings or support for third party toggles.

I installed it on my Nexus 6 about an hour ago and I'm already regretting it. Performance is garbage compared to before the update and multi window is so unstable it's barely usable. At least they made it easy to revert back, so that's probably what I'll end up doing in the mean time.

Bezel on tablet yes, since you actually need to hold the thing and don't need to worry about it being pocketable. Bezel on phone not really, since you're supposed to hold it by the back/sides. The new Nexus all lose a good deal of screen to area ratio compared to the previous gen.
