I had a gigabyte mobo years back that it had some bug and I couldn'tboot from USB . So I had to boot from dvd. and it wouldn't boot form DVD in ahci mode lol. shit was so annoying

So maybe my issue is that I dd'd these fuckers with a USB 3.0 port. I tried about everything on the ~5yr old machines. One has Tails on it and I'm pretty sure that's EFI only, which could be the issue with the older machines.
