looks like a shitty tree
>>
>>53391069
It's supposed to be a shitty tree. AlphaGO is smarter in the way it generates candidate solutions, it doesn't brute force search everything like deep blue did.
>>
Yeap. All we can hope for is that google can control its creations, and that they are benevolent once they mature.
>>
>>53391122
>put arbitrary limitations on artificial life
>expect it to actually become life

This is why we'll never create true AI.

Because we'll be afraid of it, such to the point that before it can even exist, it'll be snuffed out by our fear.
>>
Wéiqí is only one of the arts of the Chinese scholar. When the machine outdoes man in calligraphy, painting, and playing the zither, we may say humanity has been surpassed.

Go is far more strategic than chess and can't be bruteforced, this is a great example of smart AI.

I do daily. I'm just afraid I will not witness it's rise myself.

>>
>It's an algorithm! It lacks intuition!
Well, what the fuck do you think "human intuition" is? The brain is nothing but algorithms.
>>
>>53393840
The brain (and the human body) is made of malleable matter. Maybe to produce Skynet The Almighty we need a malleable processing units.
>>
>>53393808
27. And I feel like the way things go now without any major breakthrough we will yet to see it in 100 years. That making me realy sad, because humans as they are aready outlived their potential and need to make space to superior form of inteligence.

>make space to superior form of inteligence
No. We can share the universe with Skynet. We don't need to disappear.

Read up on reinforcement learning
https://webdocs.cs.ualberta.ca/~sutton/book/the-book.html
this ai majorly applies these concepts
it involves the ai learning as it plays, in a way similar to how a human is theorised to learn
>>53393840
It's interesting, this ai differs from most chess ais as the algorithm directing alphago is not actually understood by anyone. we only understand the learning process leading to some complex evaluation function for different board states. chess algorithms are often well understood, which makes them quite different.
>>
But can it solve the catcha?
>>
>>53393920
It doesn't need to, google owns the captcha

soon we'll be arguing with AI anons without even knowing

the current captcha is being used for training an ai which would be able to solve the captcha
you just need sufficient training data

Robots don't need a clean atmosphere to live like us so, since they're a extension of our intelligence, they will most likely find more efficient ways to collect finite resources without giving a fuck about climate changes.

One of the smartest statements about AI I've seen in a while.
>>
>>53401546
A NN can be described algorithmically, but is not itself an algorithm. Similarly, the trajectory of an arrow can be described mathematically, but the arrow is not doing math.
>>
>>53402312
that's not the best analogy. a neural network is self-contained. i suppose i'll say instead that a neural network is an implementation of an algorithm. the trajectory of an arrow, however, is not, since an arrow does not contain and enforce the rules of its own behavior
>>
>>53394446
This could be bad.
"Well you assholes have spent hundreds of years killing yourselves, we show up, and because we don't use 100% clean energy you guys bitch. Once we've finally dredged up enough oils we'll head off to Mars and you'll never hear from us again"
"But we need you to save us, your dredging's killed the ocean and we'll all starve!"
"Look, you only would have lasted another 10 years anyway, at least now you won't suffer long. There's barley enough shit left here to get us out, let alone 10 billion quarter tonne blocks of water!"
"But we'll all die! We need all the help we can get!"
"You started the clean up 50 years too late. We would just stick around, but history tells us you're all gonna get irrational and undirectedly violent real quick."

Deep blue didn't 'brute force' search, it used minimax algorithm with alpha-beta pruning the search tree.

>>53393637

No, you are wrong. That just uses a simple multilayer perceptron to evaluate the board. Alphago uses a deep convolutional neural net to evaluate the board, and another one to choose policy. Deep CNNs have not been widely used until recently and using them for the evaluation AND the policy AND using monte carlo is absolutely a new idea.

Alphago team are not the first people to play games with neural networks, but they are using them better than everyone else.

>>53393912
>e only understand the learning process leading to some complex evaluation function

Yeah, it would be interesting for a go expert to look at plots of the filters learned by the convnets.
