Now that open source has been compromised and become a gateway to malware (Sourceforge, Transmission 2.9, Ubuntu etc.) and all proprietary code is a botnet what choices do we have left?
>>53373396
Shit like sourceforge and github are bringing down the quality of opensource development. If the project can't afford a domain name and a server then it probably isn't much more useful than a script you can make yourself in 30 minutes.

Are you a crybaby that depends on other people's code? Man up and write your own software.

shit hub

Write ur own proprietary code. No one else can botnnetted it
>>53373396
not jumping on every /b/ bandwagon is a great option

Unless the compiler is botnetted

Still open source, retard. Non-free shits are BOTH botnet AND malware ridden. The choice is yours
Write your own OS

God is the only way not to be botnetted.
Last step is praying for a computer architecture with full and free specifications. I know for sure only God can realize that.

fug, forgot image

Package and source code signing would be a good idea. Sign that shit with your private key and publish the public key on two independent third party platforms.

This!
Also, actually buying *books* on programming will teach you more than splurging with that +10 GB e-book torrent.

Suicide. Go for it!

Sourceforge has new owners who are apparently trying to clean things up. Will take them a while to get their good reputation back though.

then recompile the compiler with a known good version of the compiler

This is shit. Skip this post.
To op: open source of okay as long as you validate hashes. Always validate your hashes.
Remember that proprietary softwares have as much as, and if it's not more, error/fail/malware than open-source, but no one will ever know because it's proprietary.

Bullshit. If a malicious party can replace your binaries, it can replace the checksums as well cf. Transmission trojan. Hashing is security theatre and not a real alternative to proper cryptographic signing. Unfortunately approximately zero percent of developers understand this.
