How is DisplayPort better than HDMI?
>>53359923
Daisy chaining. Higher bandwidth.
>>53359923
Its better overall other than in cable length.
Open standard

This tripfag knows whats up, he's also a faggot.

Dont talk shit about the falcon. You should be thankful he still sticks around this shithole.
Also, he's a faggot

>You should be thankful
I do not ask for this. I am the one who is thankful that people help me with information and commentary.

faggots, they both also are
For one monitor literally no difference. But it really shines in a multi monitor setup
>>53359923
HDMI charges licensing fee per port installed on device, increasing the price of the final product.
DisplayPort is a royalty-free standard.

This
>>53359923
Well I mean it literally is just HDMI but better
same features but just better. Faster, more bandwidth, etc.

But patented

The MPEG-LA is now charging for patents
as far as i understand, dvi/hdmi are based off vga, except the 3 analog wires are swapped out for digital replacements.
dp is a legit datalink and transmits packets rather than a continuous pixel stream, so theres more potential to do neat stuff with it, like run multiple displays off one source etc
>digitalfags having to worry about muh latency, muh bandwidth, muh expensive gold-plate wires
>tfw using VGA master race never have to worry about any of that shit
>>53360306
>For one monitor literally no difference
Have you tried to use a 144hz monitor? HDMI can't provide that refresh rate while Displayport can and does.
Display Port is not signal compatible to HDMI/DVI, has higher bandwidths, can transmit 30bit color per pixel and supports higher resolutions. The only real downside is the smaller maximum cable length.
I have this monitor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005125
If I bought this cable will I be able to plug the monitor into displayport on my graphics card?

Ive always used DVI and HDMI but I got another monitor and found out that one of the two DVI ports on my card is shared with HDMI so I need to use DP to get 3 monitors
