>Mac users have been targeted by hackers with "ransomware" in what is believed to be the first attack campaign of its kind against users of Apple's operating system.
>A piece of "BitTorrent" software known as "Transmission" was infected with KeRanger, so that when Mac users were downloading the latest version of the product, the ransomware was installed on their machine.
>The malware begins encrypting certain types of document and data files on a system and once that process is finished, KeRanger demands the victim pay one bitcoin, equivalent to just over $400
Are Apple finally finished?
nah, it was only on through their homepage itself for like 48 hours. if you just updated through the app you're fine and apple has already revoked the app signature.
it's pretty much a non-issue.

Apples don't get viruses. This is misinformation by microshaft.

thats what you get not compiling from source.

>remotely disable stolen signing certificate used for malware in less than 2 days

Pretty good response from Apple actually

keep trying freetards
Ammunition for Apple to lock down OSX to the App Store.

There are bleak times ahead for Applefags around the globe, good luck for you :^)

OSX would die a horrific death literally overnight if you were prevented from installing apps that don't comply with App Store standards. You're out of your god damn mind if you think that's what Apple wants to happen.

Technical analysis
>A Macbook owner who shelled out 3,000 dollars for crap specs
>Still needs a torrenting app
I don't understand Mac owners. They rather pirate when they shelled out 3,000 - 6,000 dollars for a crap computer?!
>>53361128
Truth be told, Macs are only status badges, even a silly flipping burger poorfag can afford one by toiling away for a couple of months.

It would make OSX totally unviable for some smallish fraction of 'hardcore' and professional users, but the vast majority of people wouldn't notice.
IMO the currency balance works (you could only install Transmission by jumping through some hoops turning off security, so if it goes bad for you ya' can't blame Apple)
