People on here always brag about because software is open source it means bug are fixed faster and more features are added.

Explain this fucking image then.

That's unfortunate I can't look at your "fucking" retardation, better luck next time
>>
They're wrong.

If a commercial software aims to be successful, it has to be fully functional and it's bugs have to be fixed ASAP.

first of all, it's not a bug but a feature request. secondly gnome is absolute shit that doesn't even know proper project management

>gnome
>adding in requeted features

None of the people who want it care enough to learn how to implement it.

the gnome developers refuse to add it because it doesn't conform to their vision for the desktop environment
as a result, there exist forks where people have patched and published their fixes
>>
>>53354997
Have the gnome developers ever stopped to think maybe their "vision" is wrong and is the reason why Linux has a 1% global market share?
>>
>>53355022
Linux GUI programmers don't think, they just do

Pardon, but I'd just like to interject for one second. What you're alluding to as Linux, is in actuality, GNU/Linux, or as I have of late taken to calling it, GNU + Linux. Linux is not an operating system by itself, but actually another free piece of a fully functioning GNU system fashioned into something practical by the GNU core libraries, terminal facilities and necessary system components fulfilling a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Quite a few computer holders operate a modified edition of the original system daily, but do not know. Through a strange happenstance, the edition of GNU that is being broadly utilized today is often called "Linux", and many of its holders have no knowledge that it is practically the GNU system, produced by GNU.

There is in fact a Linux, and this population do have it installed, but it is but a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but cannot work on its own; it will work only in the habitat of a whole operating system. Linux is most commonly utilized in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is practically GNU with Linux added on, or GNU/Linux. All the supposed "Linux" distros are really distros of GNU/Linux.
