Well technically speaking we operate on imperfect perceptions all the time. Information about things around us is never perfect. We can take this information from biased source, we can misinterpret it, our senses may be faulty or finally we ourselves may be biased. All this results in reality where nothing we think about is ever as it is, it's always as we see it.

There is still lot's of problems to solve though. We still don't any way to store enough power to supply a robot for a day without making it super heavy and large. We don't have materials that could imitate skin properly, or any way to make realistic muscles with so many sensors. And of course we are nowhere near AGI, all our AIs are either simple chatbots that tries to act as natural as possible without having any abstract thinking(Cleverbot) or hardcoded voice control without any learning capabilities(Siri).
I personally preferred something else. Imagine creating body with all the desired traits using by engineering its DNA, but making it brainless. Then we could accelerate its grow until she hits 16 or something and then put an AI computer inside her head and connect it to neural system. This way she could regenerate like any other human and we could even have children, it would be awesome.
