What's the difference now?
I've watched this video but it seems highly outdated https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzUrIBYWCDA

PDF reader: now Chromium has a in built pdf reader
Codecs: now Chromium supports H.264/MP4, WebM, Ogg/Theora, Opus, MP3, weba, WAV

Beside in built flash player, are there any important differences?

THE FUCKING SOURCE CODE

Not really. Google's botnet features are removed, including sync (optionally) and the auto-updater. It's the same browser otherwise.
>>
the fact that it can update itself is the biggest factor. who the fuck wants to go download an exe every week to update it or compile shit?
>>
>>53330458

Don't kow. I'm on Ubuntu.

Who the fuck wants to have Google's botnet updater running on their system 24/7 with full admin privileges? Oh, right, retard Winbabby faggots from /v/. You have to go back, Charlie.
>>
>>53330530
you dont even need it to run 24/7. you just disable the service and manually click update. chromium cant even manage that.
>>
>>53330565
>manually disable the update service for Google Chrome
>Manually update it when you want to
>doesn't want to install chromium
>because he has to manually update it.

Nigger what???
>>
Now, let's be serious here:

Does Chromium really, really

really really

have absolutely none of that botnet Google crap? Is it honestly safe?
>>
I use Chrome, I have nothing to hide. Native Netflix support is awesome.

Clicking update is way more convenient than fucking downloading and installing an exe
>>

If you're using a google account google can profile you easily if not they can't there's nothing else to it no matter which browser you're using they don't bother profiling users without an account and they collect metrics from anyone using their services, including the very Google reCAPTCHA you used to post this message

You can download Chromium completely without the sync component. It removes that dumb little profile button from the title bar too.

Can't you just turn off the sync function on Chrome? Hell you can even encrypt your sync data.

So what's Google gonna see on my rig, except for straight porn and some docs?

How are they gonna sell that shit to whom?

How exactly does Google make money from spying on you, can you explain to me rationally, step by step, animefag?
>>
>>53330301
Another difference is Chromium does not support the DRM needed for HTML5(so no netflix in Chromium)

Targeted ads, demographics, X amount of people like Y in region Z so they sell that do local ads so billboards, TV ads, shit you can't just use ad blocker on.
>>
One doesn't have to compile the Chrome in the Gentoo, it's already binary on the packages.gentoo.org.
>>
>>53330960
so did chrome, for atleast 4 months, you just had to enable it
>>
>>53330620
This.
Only retard would do anything private on his PC.
>>
>>53330960
The shut the fuck up, weirdo. Don't think just because you have shit to hide, the same applies to everyone. You just have no argument except for "mah online privacy". As if the internet is a private space. It's not. It's as public as a fucking park.

If you have shit you need to hide, don't put it on a PC which connects to the internet, simple. Or maybe you shouldn't be doing that in the first place.
>>
>>53330986
I don't see any ads, all are blocked.
>demographics
Nowhere on my PC is my age implied.

>billboards
I rarely get out of the house, how can I see the billboards.

>TV ads
I don't watch TV.

Shit, I don't even have GPS or location enabled on my phone, so they can't target anything at me.

Code optimization, bug fixes, patching security vulnerabilities, implementing new functions...

It used to be different before but Firefox and Opera has the same way of doing it now. I honestly think it's stupid to update the major version number unless there has been significant changes. I'm guessing Firefox and Opera adapted the same thing because most Internet users are very stupid so they would choose Chrome only because it had a higher version number.
