you should look up benches, the 8350 is a great cpu. and their gp hardware lasts longer than the nvidia equivalent. if you are gonna buy, atleast wait a year. for the new archs. i7, and ti are memes.
Would i be better off just getting a more basic z170 mobo and then a wireless card of some sort? It just seems like itd look cluttered to me, and would probably only save me a minimal amount of money

Thanks for the advice. I only know the basics when it comes to components. But what exactly is wrong with the ti? I get that the i7 is basically pointless for gaming though. Also, waiting a year isnt practical. My laptop that I used for gaming took a shit on me

i previously had a asus maximus viii hero but replace it with the gaming 7 and i couldn't be happier. has a much better sound solution since it uses a real creative chipset, two m.2 ports instead of one, intel usb 3.1 controller instead of asmedia, dual nics with both intel and killer (which is nice since the intel nic that ships with z170x has been plagued with random drop outs for a few seconds which i faced on the asus), little things like being able to change the LED color, more stuff shielded like the bclk and pci-express slots reinforced with metal, two usb 3 front panel headers instead of one, same build quality and bios stability, and slightly cheaper.
only thing i liked about my maximus board was the bios was more pretty. but the gaming 7 offers far more value for the money.

or if you need MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE, just get a little xiaomi AC router and connect it to your computer over ethernet.
Anything built in to the motherboard or those PCI cards all seem like memes since they're so close to all that shit spewing out noise and cases are often stored in bad locations for connectivity.
Laptops typically have built-in wifi, but there's a good reason they put the antenna in the upper case with the screen, not right next to the CPU

maxwell chips don't need a voltage increase to OC, so there's no difference in power consumption or heat output.
