What do you guys think of having an ereader instead of thousand books ? which one to buy? Kindle or Kobo? Also ereader general
Dont leave me alone
Just use your phone. e-readers are finished and bankrupt.

Too small
>>53300951
>reading a 700 page book on a phone
that sounds awful
>>53301106
I've read tens of thousands of pages worth of books on my Note 3 and had no problem.
Font size is adjustable, and so is brightness and color scheme. I really don't see why you fags have such a hard time with this.
>>53301144
hey if it works for you, fine
i can barely stand reading a news article on my phone
>>53301144
A note is basically a tablet, i dont want a tablet and my phone is small.

have you thought about buying a tablet instead? iPad mini is bretty gud for a basic ereader
>>53301463
Yes, but a Kindle/Kobo costs 300 huemonies and an ipad 1200 huemonies
>>53301505
but an ipad can do at least 4 times as many things, plus you don't look poor on the bus
>>53301529
you cant use ipads on the bus here in brazil lol youll get mugged
>>53301529
>you don't look poor on the bus
>>53301529
If you use the bus you're automatically poor

Kindle
>inb4 Amazon®©™ botnet.
It's seriously the comfiest fucking thing. The lock screen ads aren't obtrusive but they're kinda ugly. I use the Kindle Paperwhite and it's probably increased my weekly reading amount by 100%.

Mine isn't even connected to wifi.

Just get a Kobo. Don't listen to the phone/tablet shills.
I've got the Glo two years ago. Best decision I made. I travel a lot. No more 600 p. books to carry, no more selection, I can travel with more books that I can ever read.
Reading is comfy, no eye fatigue. Back-light is good too.
Page turning can be a little slow but you get used to it.
Lighter than any tablet. Battery will last for about 2 weeks if you read a lot. 1 month was my record.
Use Calibre to manage your ebook libraries/transfers to microsd.
If I had to change, I'll get a faster ereader.

>Mine isn't even connected to wifi.
Also this. Shut down wifi asap. No need for it.
>>53302137
whats a faster one? one of the newer kobo glo's?
got an old kobo touch. It's pretty comfy. I can even put my weeb comics on there if I resize the images beforehand. It's not perfect, but it works well enough.
>>53302245
Haven't tried the newer. I don't know if page/book/library loading is faster.
There is very little info about the specs.
Anyway for the price, you can't be deceived. If you want to spend 5x more for a screen that will tear your eyes at night and fuck with your sleep, go for a tablet.
One thing that I didn't mention is the integrated dictionary. Very useful when reading books in foreign languages.
I've got one for my bugout bag but as far as just reading goes I prefer actual books
Kobo Aura HD here, I got it used
for sixty bucks it's p nice, I'm reading the way I used to before I built my computer
currently reading The Expanse
would like to try pic related
>>53302456
shit I really prefer white on black, is this exclusive to kobo readers? which ones?
I have a Kobo Glo HD, it's breddy gud for reading text. Some books can have slower page turns (I guess it depends on the epub settings, and probably I could fix this with calibre or something, but it's annoying). Also it's useless for anything with images. Pretty good use of $120 or whatever it was. Of course I still prefer to read actual books when possible.
>>53302502
The Kobo Aura comes in "coffee/ivory/onyx" colors.
Mind that the Aura weights more than the Glo (240 vs 180 gr)
>>53302551
This.
Whatever you think, nothing can replace a book.

have a look for yourself
I have a Paperwhite but kinda wish I'd gotten a Kobo. I like how they support different file formats and have better fonts/page display options

>no epub support

>Also it's useless for anything with images.
Thanks for pointing that out. I'd use an ebook reader for uni stuff, so lots of pdfs with images and diagrams and shit. For this purpose a cheap tablet is a better option imo.
>>53301969
Oh no the gubmint knows how many pages of Harry Potter you've read!
OP here
i would use it to put some programming books because i cant stand pdfs on the screen :( and of course normal books because my backpack always become super heavy with the books i carry
>>53302825
nah man
these things are shite for texts
you're better off going and getting those books printed or a tablet to display them
>>53302903
They are too expensive
One ipad mini 2 here costs something around $650 , the only alternative are samsung tablets and they are shite
I had a Kobo Aura HD, literally one of my greatest purchases ever.
Then I got drunk, had the device in my backpack at the time, and cracked the screen. This was two years ago and I still yearn for another.
>>53303008
You don't have those dirt cheap Chinese tablets? They are shit tablets, but they can serve good as ebook/PDF readers.

I bought a kindle fire hd, but I also have an ipad. I prefer to just use my ipad for reading. It's bigger and the same on my eyes.
I'm not sure what the point of the kindle is.

Kindle DX is one of the best purchases I ever made
>>53302792
It's true for kindle too, in case you were wondering. Other than physical paper, nothing beats scientific papers on a tablet
Is it easy to read downloaded books on a Kindle? I read on some review website that you need to buy all your books from Amazon or they won't work
