Linux Mint's website got hacked for a month because they used WordPress. Wordpress is really shoddy. That being said I changed distros because fuck supporting anyone who uses wordpress

Funny meme m8, you should go to that nice website named Reddit.

but the forum is running on phpbb

Which doesn't have to be the same.

This is what happens when you trust antisemites.

Linux can finally compete with Windows and Apple! :^)
>>
>>53245402
that's why you run a hash check before installing
>>
>>53246394
why are you bumping a troll/bait post that hasn't received an answer in a hour?

Using Mint for the first time, should I be worried?
>>
>>53246436
I hope you know most people don't even know what sage does anymore anon.
>>
>>53246441
probably not

might want to switch distros though the maintainers have been ousted as incompetent after the fiasco
>>
>>53246459
Can you suggest a better alternative? I'm new to Linux.
>>
>>53245402
Should of installed Gentoo or arch
>>
>>53246449
they should, though, if they read the FAQ.

>>53246441
No: the infected builds have been replaced long ago.
Linux Mint is kind of a stability/security nightmare, though. However, as a beginner, it doesn't really matter what distro you use: xubuntu will work as well as fedora which will work as well as gentoo for that purpose.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/architect-linux/files/

This is an Arch installer. It's ncurses instead of just throwing you right into a shell, so you're still installing Arch, but you just make choices instead of having to read a guide and run commands.

Arch itself is pretty easy to use. I used Debian for a few years and I don't consider Arch to be any harder. The install should be pretty easy for you. If you have any questions during or after the install, feel free to pop over to /flt/ (friendly gnu/linux thread) and I or someone else can help you.

So I could post that zinger for everyone to see, you butthurt faggot. Notice this time I didn't bump the thread.
>>
>>53246475
there are tons.

I like what Manjaro is doing. easy to use and install. pretty far removed from the Arch base. probably the best distro for general use and gaymen I've personally used.

it used to suck though, so people like to meme about it. don't let that change your mind.

I wish they would switch over to another git service, or better yet, a self-hosted solution. Sourceforge can't be trusted (includes malware in packages), and github isn't any better.

>>53246524
No problem.

Ironic shitposting is still shitposting.

Yeah, it sounds like you're more knowledgeable than me, but even I didn't really like that they use sourceforge because the entire site has been down two or three times since I first discovered the project, making it tough to get my hands on/share with people.

>>

Hmm I wonder why that is... Perhaps because it's overly recommended to noobs looking to try Linux. They don't even sign their releases. Linux mint is run by fools.
>>
>>53246549
>Sourceforge can't be trusted
New owners now. They've asked publicly what people need/want, to show they can be trusted. I wish them luck but I think they're going to have a really hard time earning anyone's trust back.
>>
Daily reminder that you shouldn't be using hobby distros like Mint, Arch, etc.

Use corporate-backed ones: Ubuntu, Red Hat/Fedora, SUSE
>>
>>53245402
1. It wasn't hacked for a month, but four hours
2. It's a website what got hacked, not "Linux"
