It is a fedora because it is being consumed as a status symbol as a fashion accessory almost to be seen as cool, new consumers of vapers are teenagers. I've heard tale of some people claiming that nicotine is a good drug with a bad delivery system (cigarettes) and that vapers provide a good delivery system for this "good" drug as if it was caffeine. There are no long term studies of nicotine use through vapers so who knows.

I don't smoke either, but that's not because a new-consumer teenagers population exists that it's the main target.
Also when being 16 (4 years ago) there were a lot of people who smoke cigarettes in my boarding school and that was seen (by themselves) as cool. I've never seen the thing of spending 2000$ a year to die from cancer as a cool thing, but whatever : vapers have not created a trend, just hijacked the cigarettes one in some edgy-healthy way.

I vape but I still dislike the people I've met who vape. It's gotten me off cigarettes for a few months though and I'm down from 16mg to 3mg. If I have to in public I usually sneak off to some secluded patio or balcony so no one sees me vaping. Eventually I'll quit nicotine altogether.
