Probably the best function of this app is background play. That one youtube red xposed mod isn't updated yet, so I'll keep this around. Not ready for use as a player standalone though.
newpipe is great for opening a link to youtube, but not for anything else.
Embedded videos is shown in browser and you cannot go to the site and find links (those will open in the browser).
The problem with watching in the browser is that you have to enable rotation and the only reason to use the phone over the computer is because you are too lazy to get out of your bed.
If it supported fetching the subscriptions site or you could bookmark certain channels, it would be useable.

It's fully free software that uses its own APIs. Of course Google is going to get your IP, it connects to YouTube services, but you get the video free of ads (so jewtube won't make money off of it) and you can use background play. No reason not to use it.

Since I updated the app, background music works instead of crashing the app.
So far pretty good.
I wish it did have suggestions, i like to listen to podcasts and the author posts ramdomly. But then again that is kinda botnet gathering information yada yada.

I think I will continue to use BSPlayer Free instead. I like the concept of newpipe, and hope it will improve, but I need to be able to speed up video playback. Only BSPlayer allows that. I watch 80% of youtube videos at 1.6x speed, and some at 2x speed. I can't fathom how someone could watch, say, a 50 minute documentary at 1x speed when they have the option of watching the entire thing in 25 minutes.
