Hi /g/, thinking about getting a Surface Pro 4 for university.

Thoughts?
>>
Go for it. What could possible go wrong?

The charger could malfunction and set fire to your dorm, killing everyone in the building. Oh wait...
>>
You'd be better off sucking random strangers' cocks through a glory hole than buying this overhyped piece of junk.
>>
>>53164883
That's what I'm asking.

>>53164892
That was SP3 and the chargers were recalled?

>>53164894
How exactly is it overhyped and what makes it a piece of junk?
>>
>>53164859
It's the best you can get. Better than a macbook.
>>
>>53164859
It's alright. Really depends on what you're doing in uni.
>>
>>53164859
If a tree falls in the forest, and nobody is there to hear it, it doesn't actually make a sound.
After all sound is simply vibrations. The ear is stimulated by those vibrations, and your brain interprets the optic nerve input as sound.
Sound is just a perception of vibrations.
The falling tree generated vibrations, but not sound.

Just gonna go with the dell xps 13

Is there a site like logicalincrements for buying 2-1 tablets?
I been looking for one but dont know where to search, so far got interested in the ASUS X205TA but it only will let you unstall 32 Bit OS and 2GB RAM.

And for what i need it for i need 4GB.
>>
>>53165261
This. It'll be what your professor uses.
>>
>>53165380
Nope, in AUS nearly everyone at university uses windows.
>>
>>53164859
What do people use the tablet mode for? I have a thinkpad x series tablet and haven't used it in tablet mode since I bought it and tried it as a gimmick.
>>
>>53164859
Chemistryfag here, bought one because I thought it'd be good for drawing muh mechanisms. It's alright, but overpriced for what you get imo
>>
>>53165205
>ear
>optic nerve
Nice one retard
>>
>>53164859
What do you want to use it for?

For most students a netbook like the lenovo 100s would be enough.

>murricans in charge of choosing a laptop
>>
>>53165738
Could you reccomend me something? Im looking to run Netbeans on a really light laptop but most stuff in the $150-200 range only have 32bit OS, 2GB RAM maximum and/or only 32GB eMMC.
Also 32Bit UEFI that will make installing linux a pain.
>>
EEE here, wouldn't go without it. SP + Onenote is a great combo.

How about you think about something else - like learning how to shit in a fucking toilet, Parjeet
>>
>>53165230
You probably don't need an $800 drawing tablet for math.
>>
>>53166150
Within that budget I can only think of used laptops.

I got my sony for $270 and it came with a battery dock too.
4 SSDs, battery dock, i7 2620m
>>
>>53169108
Then on the $200-300 range?
>>
Just do it.
Or try to find a slightly used SP3 on Gumtree/Craigslist. I've had my SP3 for about a year and a half now and it hasn't missed a beat. My only gripes would be the slowly depleting battery life and how it turns into a fucking jet engine when you try to do more than just word processing.
>>
>>53169125
Ausfag?
I recommend checking out your local officeworks or jb hifi.

But honestly with that budget you're better off with a used sandy or ivy i5 laptop.
>>
>>53169273
Mexico actually.
Im looking for a good x220 right now but i still want something lightweight to use.
Like 2KG or less.
>>
>>53169299
Check the used market for tablet hybrids.
Or save up for longer.
All I can think off.
>>
>>53164859
Good choice honestly. I've used my SP2 for notes and it runs all the engineering programs I need. Fuck the memers this shit is great for uni
>>
>>53165230
if youre going for math I would recommend it because you can write all the problems out in your notes on it by hand.
>>
>>53164859
Don't bother

Use pen & paper like the rest of us

why would you want to buy anything microsoft at this point?
windows 10 is more botnet than google
>>
testing umatrix ignore please
>>
>>53165230
I highly recommend taking notes with a pen and paper and buying a decent laptop instead
>>
>>53165437
Pretty much just note taking or reading.
Shit posting on 4chainz is pretty comfy too
Also, I sometimes play Witcher 1 or Xenoblade on the bus with onscreen controls.

>>
get a quality ultrabook

macbook air or zenbook
>>
Get it, use your student discount.

Anyone recommending a laptop instead is an idiot. Being able to write directly on the device instead of printing shot off scanning it and generally fucking around is great.

Performance is alright, I got the i5 4gb since it's a sketching book / homework machine. I have my desktop for everything else. Battery is a bit average but that's par for the course, it's not a MacBook after all.

Pen takes a bit to get used to, but hey if you get it and dislike it just return it.

what about this one? http://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_276303.html

to much rice?
>>
>>53164859
Don't fall into windows 2in1 memes, they suck dick as tablet and they suck even more dick as laptop.
>>
it's not a laptop. just keep that in mind.

i dont regret switching from sp3 to mbp one bit. the trackpad is glorious
>>
>>53164859
It's one of those devices that normies like to name-drop at every opportunity for some reason.

>"Just checking my emails on my Surface Pro"
>"hey, I just got this cool Surface Pro"
>"not sure whether I should get a MacBook or Surface Pro for browsing Facebook" etc.
>>
>>53174889
oh you mean like Apple Fandrones who bought their iPhone who just can't say "my phone".

"Oh, let me just check on my iPhoneâ„¢"
>>
>>53174552
Looks good enough for a 2-1 tablet.
>>
>>53177131
Yes exactly

Seems too heavy to be a great tablet. Even the surface pro at 1.75 pounds on the heavy side, based on my experience with a 600g galaxy note 10.1.

I'll check out the M8book when it comes out, though.

what do you think of the surface book?
>>

rMBP 13" would be better
>>
>>53177499
How is the pen on that?
>>
>>53177357
expensive, gimmicky.

I have surface pro 3 now and it's okay. Won't probably buy another surface, though. I've paid now $1500 for microsoft and I've gotten two surface pro 2's and one surface pro 3, three chargers, two typecovers and few styluses. I've had few RMAs.
>>
>>53165230
You'll enjoy OneNote then.
>>
>tablet

let it fucking go m8s. separation of concerns. get a laptop if you do heavy typing.
>>
>>53164859
OP this type of thread is meant for /wsr/.

You won't get any replies like you will here with the anime image source crowding that place you'll have to mind.

I would like to know the advantage of purchasing this over the more powerful and better keyboard surface book

ThinkPad + Wacom drawing tablet for writing shit out.
>>
>>53179687
Do you think someone would bring a fucking wacom tablet to class to take notes?
>>
>>53179786
Why not? Scared that someone might point it out?
>>
>>53177348
No shit, the X1 Yoga is a 14" ultrabook, of course it's going to be a bit heavier than a 10" tablet.
>for university
Wouldn't it be better to have an actual laptop that can be converted to a tablet for this ?
You get a nice big touchscreen to take notes on, plus a worthwhile keyboard to write your papers and stuff on. While 1.2kg is a bit heavy for a tablet, it's light enough that it isn't cumbersome to carry around and use unless you for some reason decide that you should hold it like a 10" tablet - that is, not in portrait mode supported by your entire lower arm like a large notebook.
