It seems it is possible to use these two algorithms in mpv. :D

I don't think you can use super-res with mpv.
One of the developers said it was too complicated to port it for mpv.
The vapoursynth version of finesharp is better than the mpv glsl one.

How so? And how do I use it? I'm running the glsl one right now.

Any before and after screenshots, like screenshot compare or two pngs? Because this smells placebo a long way just like Nnedi3.

Interested in this as well. Can't be arsed to try myself. :^]
Do it goyim.

Base vs Finesharp.
It's very minimal, but it's definitely there. I quite like it.

i see it but not much good that it seems to do. could you try it with a lower quality video? might make more of a difference.

been enjoying it myself too
>>

>could you try it with a lower quality video
Why? That version of grimgar was 720p and was upscaled to 1080p.

Here's my mpv.conf with finesharp:

Well, there's your issue. You're using a severely outdated version of mpv built nearly 2 years ago.
What distro are you on? Should build it manually if there aren't up to date repos, but I'm sure there are.

I'm not sure how I originally installed it, but I'm using Debian Jessie. Guess I'll go grab the latest git build..

>Guess I'll go grab the latest git build..
Yeah and build it with ffmpeg, not fucking libav for fuck's sake.
>>
>>53129885

Ok anon, I have the latest git version. How do I build it with ffmpeg instead? I'm only about 2 months into using linux, sorry.
>>
>>53130000
>How do I build it with ffmpeg instead?
I believe there's a waf option for that. It's off by default and reads 'Prefer libav over ffmpeg whenever both are supported'.

Just post mpv --version here.

Try glsl version with no-sigmoid-upscaling and maybe increase sstr in FineSharpA.glsl

It's there, but I noticed it more on the bottom area of the pupils. I might add it, I mean, it's already running nnedi.

Yes you can. Open up notepad copy this into it:

[playlist]
NumberOfEntries=1
Title1=Stream
File1=http://170.130.1.95:9720/on3

then save it as a .pls file. Open the file with mpv from there.

So I've installed ffmpeg through Jessie backports now. I'm trying to install the latest version of mpv from github and it doesn't seem to be detecting ffmpeg.

After going through a list of deps this is the last couple of lines:
Checking for libav/ffmpeg                                                 : no ('libavutil >= 54.02.0 libavcodec >= 56.1.0 libavformat >= 56.01.0 libswscale >= 2.1.3' not found)
Unable to find development files for some of the required FFmpeg/Libav libraries. You need at least FFmpeg 2.4 or Libav 11. Aborting.

However:
rmaho@maho:~/Downloads/mpv/mpv$ ffmpeg --version
ffmpeg version 2.8.4-1~bpo8+1 Copyright (c) 2000-2015 the FFmpeg developers
built with gcc 4.9.2 (Debian 4.9.2-10)

>>
>>53131175
apt-get build-dep mpv
>>
>>53131222
Got everything working, thanks
>>
>>53130402
lachs0r made an updater but he hasn't updated his remote hash or something so it's broken. here's one I wrote in Autoit a while back before I found his. It still works and I use it for now.
http://pastebin.com/GJTwCCX5
It requires a local copy of the 7zip exe to compile or run in the Autoit parser. If you don't have one I linked a compiled version at the bottom of the paste.
Put it in your mpv directory and set it to run daily in task scheduler.
>>
>>53132069
what a maestro, thanks bud!!
>>
>>53133305
mpv "movie file name.mp4"

read what the error says.
>>
>>53133384
turns out it was just the latest update that somehow breaks them. i tried the one that was working before, and it works. i know i said i tried that one in the post above (now erased), but i was wrong, i actually had extracted an old instance of mpv instead of that one.

however i'm noticing differences on aspect ratio between potplayer and mpv, do you know why this is? its very slight and only happens in some movies. for example in sunset blvd. the picture is 1 line on the left and 1 on the right less on mpv (so it looks more compressed). theyre both on default aspect ratio settings.
>>
>>53130151

If yes, this is it.
>>
>>53134433

>>

>mpv UNKNOWN
This happens if you don't build from release tarball or a git clone. You (or whoever built it) most likely download master.zip from github which removes git info.
>>
Any way to create profiles that assign parameters based on what url the video is playing from?
>>
>>53134885
Probably not, mane a feature request, would be nice to have this.
>>
>>53132069
Why autoit? This is completely closed source.
Why not python or autohotkey?
