Is this a camera? The light turns red when I wave my hand in front of it.
>>
It's a motion sensor. Guessing it's part of a home security system? If not, what are you planning to use it for?
>>
Yes, it sends pic straight to the NSA
>>
>>53124822
Probably an IR motion sensor attached to a trap.
>>
>>53124853
It's in my house, pointed toward an area where I do work. I only noticed it today, I think it was recently placed here by a guest... Can you confirm it is a motion sensor? Does it take images when motions are sensed?
>>
>>53124880
>I think it was recently placed here by a guest
Jesus christ what kind of people do you let into your house and why?
>>
>>53124880
It doesn't have a clear lens so, no, it most likely doesn't take pictures of you. It looks like it's a piece to one of those Xfinity Home systems. It can be connected to a camera to trigger it into recording but it can't do it on it's own.

I think if one of your friends left it there, they did it just to try and fuck with you.
>>
>>53124880
>I only noticed it today, I think it was recently placed here by a guest
Why is you guest putting up motion sensors in your home?
That is the question you need to ask.
>>
>>53124880
Panic.
>>
>>53124880
Probably not - but you could open it up and see if it has a camera?
>>
>>53124822
put it in the microwave
>>
Unplug, disassemble and destroy that shit ASAP.
>>
>>53124997
>>53125005
I think you should check what it connects to first.
>>
It's a PIR motion sensor, it doesn't take pictures. It just trips when something moves in front of it. If it's wireless then you'll want to check the loft/crawl spaces for the alarm panel its talking to
>>
It's not a camera but definitely a motion sensor, which is probably sending the motion signal to a camera somewhere else

So get lookin'
>>
>>53124880
show us it's guts , disassemble and post pics
>>
>>53124880

pls deliver something op
>>
It's a fucking motion sensor moron.

If you are:
>working in a business environment with sensitive corporate data
>an extremely important political figure
>Edward Snowden

Then you may want to open it up and check for bugs.

I remember reading a story where someone found a listening device inside a Chinese power strip in an office. It was placed there quite possibly for corporate espionage.

>tfw it really is snowden and /g/ saved him from the CIA death squads
>>
>>53124880
Do you live alone? Could have been placed there by someone that lives with you perhaps?

Someone is tracking your movements in certain areas is what I'm trying to convey.
>>
>>53124880
did your guest look like

>pic related

by chance?
>>
>>53124822
pro tip, when you turn your burglar alarm to a certain setting those set off the alarm
>>
>>53125762

Shit. That's the guy. He said that he had a great business opportunity for me. Once I let him in, he had to use the restroom for a few minutes and then got an important call and had to go.

How fucked am I? Who is this guy? Is he Uncle Fester with a wig?
>>
>>53126665
How would you know? It's proprietary, it could do anything without you knowing.
>>
>>53124822
are you mentally ill?
>>
Come on OP, dont leave us hanging here. Post the insodes of the sensor!
>>
it's a dildo you're meant to put it in your ass
>>
>>53127562
>it's a dildo you're meant to put it in your ass
It's always anal insertions with you, isn't it?
>>
>>53124880
If you didn't put it there
Take a hammer and break the bulb open and see if it's a camera or a sensor. Even though a camera is technically a sensor. You know what I mean
>>
It's a motion sensor. Those wireless ones has a fairly low range so you can find what ever it's connected to if you look hard/long enough
What's your living situation. Alone, room mates, family?
>>
>>53124880
It doesn't take images itself. But it can send a signal to a camera to go record or take a picture when motion activates it.
Was it hidden or placed in plain sight?
It's possible your guest had it, laid it somewhere and forgot about it.

Oh shit guys.
>>
>>53127852
Except the camera doesn't have xray vision and cant see through the opaque plexiglass.

OP image is clearly a Motion detector.
>>
>>53127852
It's just a motion sensor you retard. It does not take pictures. For the security system, you must stand still while you arm it from the inside. When it sees movement the alarm goes off.
We have the same thing in our office.

Don't listen to this disinfo agent.

You very may well have been bugged by some sort of subversive entity. This doesn't necessarily mean you're being spied on, but it certainly means there is a possibility of it.

Here's my reccomendation; If you don't know what it's from, who it's from, what purpose it serves or anything else about it, just throw it out.
>>
>>53128053
This. If they are recording you and actually see you searching for the cameras then something worse might happen.
>>
>>53127852
op print a picture of your office from the view of the camera, and place the camera and picture in a place safe and far away, with the camera looking at the picture

take the picture of the office at night, but with the light on so that it doesn't become suspicious that there's no darkness
>>
>>53124822
Do you see a hole, lens or aperture?
>>
>>53124822
>>53124880
>>53127852
Hey dumbass, is there a model number on there? Perhaps on any of the parts at all? You could have looked them up by now and determine that it's a motion sensor.

Or you could wear a tinfoil hat like the rest of the /g/ plebs.

It's just a motion sensor they said.
It even has IR leds on it.
This is the last time I get advice from /g/ or friends off of craigslist.

That kind of camera can't see through the plastic.
Try harder.
>>
>>53124880
>>53124880
its an infrared sensor
which means it's trying to read your mind, get a foil hat to protect your delta waves from the nsa STAT
>>
>>53125737
Snowden isn't stupid enough to not immediately destroy a random weird thing that showed up in his house and then move far the fuck away.
>>
>>53127852
That does look like a camera, it even has IR leds for illumination

No idea how it would work inside that opaque dome, unless IR can pass through it clearly enough
>>
>>53130285
why would a spy be able to install a camera, but limit themselves to IR only, then put it in an obvious spot with an indicator light
>>
>>53130468
Hidden in plain sight? Took OP long enough to even acknowledge it in his own home.
>>
>>53130506
no
>>
>>53130234
Are you retarded? Snowden's location isn't unknown by anyone. He's under the protection of Russian security services, after all. Every time any journalist shows up to interview him, they receive a visit from the FSB.
>>
>>53130182
Why encapsulate a camera around plastic at all? For what purpose
>>
>>53124822
it's a camera. chinese shit general threads sometimes have people posting "spy cameras". they put them in everything you can imagine, even wall sockets and smoke alarms.
>>
It's just a motion sensor, yes it has a camera it has to because that's what it uses to pick up motion. How ever that camera has no hope in hell of one recording and two even getting a clear image through the opaque dome.
>>
>>53131407
found one. there are others.
>>
>>53131416
Still, why would someone just randomly install this in his house? I wouldn't trust it.
>>
>>53131315
Its an IR sensor that picks up IR through opaque plastic. It's for visual appearance and privacy that the sensor is behind that plastic.

Who nanny cam teddy bear eyeball here?
Doesn't last long but you get at least a good 2 days recording of sweet creepiness before asking them to return it because you gave them the wrong color.

I moved onto flash drives, well worth the $129

Walk around with a metal detector on the walls. That's not sarcasm I did this once and found a small device in my drywall and it freaked me out. My friend said it was a stud finder. I doubt it. This looks like a motion detector with an in/only capture. Meaning it doesn't relay the photos it takes. Unless it's sending a Wi-Fi signal. Check RF bands to be sure.
>>
If it's IR, then all OP needs to do is cover himself in mud and lie still on the ground. I saw it in a documentary once.
>>
I'm worried about OP , I hope nothing happened to him.

The red (power), white (data +), green (data -) and the black (ground) wires are USB. Try tearing apart a USB cable, connecting those wires into it and plug it into your computer.
