Which one is better?

uBlock Origin

ublock origin

OP you know Ghostery is literally owned by an ad company right?

Why?>

>53115855
I didn't know. Thank you!
>>
>>53115867
>Why?
Because it's the best ad blocker, and it can replace all of those addons you listed with it's 3rd party filters.

From http://lifehacker.com/ad-blocking-extension-ghostery-actually-sells-data-to-a-514417864:

>Ghostery is owned by Evidon, a company that collects and provides data to advertising companies. It has a feature called GhostRank that you can check to "support" them. The problem is, Ghostery blocks sites from gathering personal information on you—but Ghostrank will take note the ads you encounter and which ones you block, and sends that information back to advertisers so they can better formulate their ads to avoid being blocked. The data is anonymous, and Ghostery still does everything it promises to do to protect your privacy.

So, if I uncheck that option it should be fine, right?

Blocking ads slowly kills the websites you visit, idiot.
First hand experience, I worked for one that is now closing down because dropping ad revenue despite rising amounts of visits.

I was rather disappoint with Privacy Badger. I had hopes it will jsut deal with the tracking problem, but it just blocks ads too, so you are still a fucking parasite on the web. Ended up using no blocking at all, it is not essential or anything.
>>
>>53115924
Any website that uses an immoral revenue stream like advertising deserves to be shut down.
>>
>>53115924
Nice troll, bro :)

Daily reminder that if you motherfuckers keep on telling everyone about adblock on youtube, the future of media will be subscription only

>>
>>53115924
Maybe they shouldn't have used popovers and let their ads attempt to load malware onto people's computers, then, hmmmmm?

Online ads are an attack vector, I'm not too keen on those.
>>
>>53115924
Get fucked.

Are you old enough to remember BBSes? The internet started out as a not-for-profit place where people chatted, chilled, and shared. Then the normies moved in, then corps tried to be cool and moved in, but now both groups are getting assblasted back out. I'm happy we're going back to our roots.

>protip: the internet will always exist, as long as ISPs get paid. your shitty site doesn't matter.
>>
>>53115962
But Noscript isn't available for Chrome.

Good, that's a much more ethical revenue stream, websites won't need to load 50 tracking scripts everytime you visit them

AdBlock Plus because it respects websites that put the effort to have unintrusive ads by allowing them by default, but it still gives you the freedom to choose to block the ads in those websites anyway.
>>
>>53116147
yeah that's pretty much how us italian feel when we hear a guy from Naples talking.
Understanding russian would be easier desu
>>
>>53115962
This but also RequestPolicy.
>>
>>53116260
Advertising is by definition intrusive.
>>
>>53116624
If there's only a small static text ad on the side of the page it's not going to make your browsing experience any worse.
Popups, audio ads, videos, etc on the other hand....
>>
>>53116703
I block website elements that /should/ be there if they annoy me, even the least intrusive ad is untidy.

That, and in 37 years I've never once bought something because it was in an ad. I'm never going to use the elements and they do not need to waste load time.

>If there's only a small static text ad on the side of the page it's not going to make your browsing experience any worse.
That was what google did.
But most advertising companies don't do that.
They also don't check their shit for malware. Ad companies are the number 1 source of malware on the internet.
>>
>>53116763
AdBlock Plus has guidelines about acceptable ads. And if you are a website owner you can enter their whitelist for free. You only have to pay them 30% of ad revenue (that comes from adb plus users) if you serve more than 10 million ads per month to adbp users.
I don't see anything wrong with their policy and desu I quite respect their idea

NoScript, Request Policy, RefControl, Self-Destructing Cookies, uBlock Origin or uMatrix optionally.
Web of Trust is also recommended if you are a retard and don't know which links look suspicious.
