you have something to hide? you must be a criminal, if its nothing illegal why not share it?
>>
>>53083355

Why would I want to share naked pictures of myself?
>>
>>53083355
I am waiting for you to post a timestamped picture of yourself along with your SSN, all credit cards and their expiration dates and corresponding CVV as well as your home address, phone number.

I might also need your work address, work phone number and the name of your boss and coworkers for good measure.

Hurry up or I'll think you have something to hide.
>>
>>53083355
The point is that the government shouldn't have that kind of intrusive power
Sure, right now we're a safe democracy but if we let them have intrusion now and some psychotic set of presidents/congressmen come into power all at once imagine the power they have and the lack of protection we have

It's just like gun control
you can take away the guns so citizens can't kill each other but the right to bear arms was put in place to defend from tyranny not from other citizens
>>
Then what does the government have to hide?
>>
>>53083394
>Hurry up or I'll think you have something to hide.

he does have something to hide, he is just trolling. nobody is that stupid that they think they have nothing to hide.
>>
>>53083700

The government is above the law, that has already been established
>>
>>53083394
>implying your SSN and credit cards are related to what porn sites you visit
>>
>>53083749
>moving those goalposts
>>
>>53083749
it is... just like porn sites you visit it is something that will be publicly available without privacy.
>>
>>53083749

It establishes your identity, so we know you're not a terrorist.
>>
>>53083355
What is all this but a fundamental trust in the experience of being watched? Our trust is so strong that it seems to have found its own protective rationality, deeply rooted in Western consciousness. It's an addict's rationality, by which we're unable to refrain from making public a stream of intimate details of our lives and those of children too young to consent. One must wonder about the subtle, unspoken fear of the consequences of refusing to participate in systems of surveillance, or even to critique them seriously. This would be to risk isolation. It would be a trifle paranoid to reveal less -- a little eccentric, not quite rational.
>>
>>53083355
please give me your email and password to your email account, also your street address, your SSN, all credit cards with expiration date and CVV as well as your home address.
>>
>>53083394
>>53083820
anon, that two requests asking for your information... are you hiding it from us? are you a criminal scum? surely it is nothing illegal, what are you waiting for? SHARE IT!
>>
>>53083856
never said I wasn't a criminal
>>
>>53083355
Read the book "Snakes in Suites". Humans are inherently flawed and cannot be trusted.

Best measure to equalize one bad asshole in power is to remove their ability wreak havoc.

"Absolute power corrupts absolutely."
>>
I agree OP, all privacy advocates should be labeled criminals
>>
>>53083355
Privacy is a human right.

Why is it not OK for a bunch of random people to be outside your window looking at everything that happens in your home and make recordings of it if you have nothing to hide?
>>
>>53086563
I allow anyone to look through my windows, they are over 100 meters off the ground
>>
>>53086686
Ever heard of ladders?
>>
>>53086712
1. good luck finding a ladder high enough and
2. good luck using it in the middle of a city

if you can manage 1 and 2, welcome to look through or even come in
>>
>>53086686
Since you've hidden yourself 100 meters off the ground, I think it should be fine for anyone who wants to set up cameras in all your rooms to record everything that happens. Surely you don't have anything to hide.
>>
>>53086779
okay, if you pay for the cameras and install them on a separate network(not to affect my internet speed) and on a separate electrical circuit(not to affect my electricity bill) feel more than free to do so
>>
> Why are people so scared about privacy
We aren't scared, it's the opposite, We want privacy!
>>
>>53086900
are you a criminal? its the only reason for privacy
>>
>>53086818
And you think this is how society should work, that no one can opt out from being spied on all the time without risking being branded a criminal, terrorist, or otherwise undesireable element in society? It's fine with you that the right to privacy is erased? It's fine with you that everything you've ever said or done can be used against you x number of years into the future?

If you ever have children, I'm sure you'll be fine with pedophiles recording your kids naked in a locker room since your kids have nothing to hide. As long as the pedophiles don't put their hands on your kids or threaten them, it's fine, right?

I'm sure you'd also be fine with the state recording everything your kid says and does and also monitor everything you say to make sure you're not putting any unacceptable ideas into your kid's head like for example opposing mass surveillance or being Islamophobic, transphobic, racist, Trump supporter, or a practicing Christian. Surely the state has the right to make sure it can take the most vulnerable away from parents who have the wrong opinions and send the kids to re-education camps while ostracizing the parents from society?
>>
>>53086982
never do anything that could be used against you, simple as that
>>
>>53086951
Are you retard?
>>
>>53087299
anything you do can be used against you, as simple as that
>>
>>53087374
no, I am a normal human being that doesn't do anything socially or legally questionable and I am just curious why some of you are so hyped up about privacy
>>
>>53083355

Anon posting about privacy
Does anybody else see the irony?
>>
>>53083394
There's no harm with the government knowing that information. Are you embarrassed that the government will know about your foot fetish?

was about to mention.

I don't hide it, why should I?
>>
>>53087469
So you don't have your own private photos with you and your life partner that do not want to share with some corporation and with the govt? That is actually really sad.
>>
>>53083355
Exactly, so why hiding the code?

the photos aren't private, you just have to look for them and they are right there, I am not going out of my way to encrypt them, but also not going out of my way to show them to everybody

since you asked, here is one pic of my waifu.
>>
>>53087469
Well the question is why don't you care about being surveilled like a criminial even though you aren't one. Let me explain it in a different way: The fact that someone is generous doesn't mean that he/she'll give everything she has to other people.

When people say "I don't worry about privacy, because I've got nothing to hide", they fundamentally misunderstand the nature of rights.
First of all, it doesn't matter whether the right is valuable to you as an individual, because rights are collective. There are vulnerable people in society who need all of their rights.
And even were that not the case, saying that "I don't care about privacy, because I have nothing to hide" is no different from saying "I don't care about free speech, because I have nothing to say, or freedom of the press, because I'm not a journalist".

>the government
Global fascism on the horizon, it's the way it gets tied in with the meta data corps. Spooky future. All governments now have one thing in common and the greatest threat to them, a need to suppress their populations as the world begins to wind down in the face of many insurmountable problems and I'm not talking about global warming, real problems like resource depletion, fiat currency ponzi schemes, pollution and overpopulation. The carnage will be epic and stripping of privacies that coincides with paranoia and the stifling of creativity is just the beginning IMO. Dark ages, history repeats.
