Last laptop I had (5 years ago) didn't have one .. for future, it's impossible to get a laptop without built-in mics & cameras.

Good luck hacking me, nigger. My main setup is secure. USB controller is a locked down VM that acts as an arbitrator and loans devices to my other systems. Mouse and keyboard are given to dom0 so it can control other vms. dom0 has no network connection and each vm is behind 2 others before they get to the Internet. Each program I run (Basically) is in its own vm. My 4chan vm is Fedora 23 with Firefox and is probably the only weak point on my system. If you manage to break in you've still got to get through two other vms and break out of a xen vm before you get to my main system that has access to most of my nonusb hardware. Good luck, turbonerd

most modern laptops have the LED hardwired to the camera, so if the camera is active the light is on and there's no way to turn it off. So no, there isn't a reason to tape it

Yeah. It has a little hardwired light that comes on whenever the camera is powered, but I don't really trust that so I always keep it taped unless I'm using it. There's really no reason not to.
