all software is nonfree by default, because all software is copyrighted by default. If the Javascript is under a free license (e.g. jquery) then it's free software. When was the last time you saw a GPL or MIT comment on a site's Javascript?
>>
>>52994721
>nonfree javascript
Nobody really cares. Having people use free JS is an aim, a goal, not an absolute truth.

The autistic "free JS plugin" that blocks non-free JS is fucking stupid and really more for testing and discovery than every day use.
>>
>>52994760
Sick rhyme.
>>
>>52994820
The design behind LibreJS is flawed because it tries so hard to closely follow JS's intended use case: don't ask, don't tell, just run.

B-but without a l-license, users d-don't have the f-four f-freedoms of s-software!
>>
>>52999190
I don't give a shit about licensing and other legalese bullshit

If I see a library I like, I use it as I see fit. If someone doesn't want me to use their code/library/whatever, they shouldn't put it plainly readable on the internet. If a company wants to try and keep me from using something, they can kiss my hairy ass cause I don't give a fuck what they want, I'll find a way to get my hands back on whatever they pulled from my hands and I'll go right back to using it.

Bringing legalese like licenses into code was the most cancerous idea humanity has ever fucking had, just like patents, trademarks, copyrights, etc. The mere thought that companies or people can claim ownership over ideas and concepts is fucking ridiculous. The only thing that should be restricted is shit that has physical consequences/costs like using a portion of their virtual hosting service or w/e, something that has direct and provable costs.

Isn't it ironic that the proprietary software developers call us communists? We are the ones who have provided for a free market, where they allow only monopoly. … if the users chooses this proprietary software package, he then falls into this monopoly for support … the only way to escape from monopoly is to escape from proprietary software, and that is what the free software movement is all about. We want you to escape and our work is to help you escape. We hope you will escape to the free world. The free world is the new continent in cyberspace that we have built so we can live here in freedom. It's impossible to live in freedom in the old world of cyberspace, where every program has its feudal lord that bullies and mistreats the users. So, to live in freedom we have to build a new continent. Because this is a virtual continent, it has room for everyone, and there are no immigration restrictions. And because there were never indigenous peoples in cyberspace, there is also no issue of taking away their land. So everyone is welcome in the free world, come to the free world, live with us in freedom. The free software movement aims for the liberation of cyberspace and everyone in it.

>if the users chooses this proprietary software package, he then falls into this monopoly for support
There are things really wrong with this kind of reasoning.
Is there a washing machine monopoly over there?
>>
>>53004176
If only the author is allowed to read and/or write the source, then there is only one person who can fix a problem. But others can still provide workarounds. There is a monopoly, but it's not as dramatic as is suggested.
>>
Unless you live innawoods using no digital tech, you depend on propriety code.
>>
>>52996272
Dunno what you want here, mate.
Just spin up a VM of your favorite OS for non-free stuff.
It's not that hard.
