I'd like to know this myself but really it's just down to what you do and your personal preference for what I can gather. 144hz only really comes into play in games that your GPU can actually push to high framerates btw, though you will see smoother movement in everyday stuff like moving windows around your desktop and scrolling. It also helps prevent screen tearing.

Monitors seem to be a long term commitment. I still use an old Acer and it looks good enough, I just want some of the new features available today, and now there are all kinds to suit all kinds of tastes. Ultrawides, IPS, 1080-4k res, 60-144hz, as low as 1ms GTG. It's pretty cool.

1440p IPS. I don't do much gayman anymore so the so the faster refresh rate is essentially worthless to me. However having a bigger screen resolution is great. My workspace is so much larger and it's great for circuit design as I have a lot of space to draw schematics on. I don't do much color critical work so IPS isn't necessary I suppose but it is a nice bonus.
