You can't upload your own music. GPM gives you 20,000 tracks to upload. Amazon has 250, Spotify has 0, unless things have changed.

I prefer to use the default tools of operating systems unless absolutely necessary. Groove Music plays FLAC, automatically fetches album art for most artists/albums automatically (and doesn't embed them in or otherwise modify the original files, but just shows the album art inside the app, which is a nice detail). I don't really need anything more.
