Python is literally perfect for beginners. it's very intuitive and literal, the least amount of jargon in any language. you don't have to deal with standard libraries to start using it. No learning curve for an IDE since it doesn't require one. runs on pretty much all operating systems equally and without a doubt has the largest support, everywhere. there's a million tutorials. you can start making simple website within 2 weeks, or even GUI apps.

For example data types, if you start with a language like C or Java, you have to learn what an integer or a string, or a float is, and where the limits of those things are.
In Python, you simply write

I think if you have a good teacher, you should start by learning C, but if you learn on your own, you can start with Python, learn the basics, and then move on to a different language that teaches you more concepts

I've been having some problems with my PC recently, posting from my phone now since accessing anything other than safe mode takes hours
A couple days ago, I lost access to the networking tab of the control panel. I tried accessing it because as of that point, I couldnt load certain pages, so I thought id reset my wireless adaptor, which has worked in the past for this sort of thing. However, by entering safe mode with netwoking, I was able to reset it there, and everything was working just fine. This was about a week ago. 3 days ago, it says it needs to update windows. I do it, then turn it off for the night. Next time I go on, its preparing to configure windows. I, needing to get on ASAP at that time, restarted in order to avoid this, which has worked in the past with seemingly no problems. It boots up again, same message. Fast forward to several attempts of screwing around with safe mode with and without networking, and nothing has changed. I give in and let it update, which ends up taking about 3 hours. I log in, and networking control panel is still fucked, and apparently now my copy of windows is no longer genuine. Internet worked somewhat, with things like chans working, but not much else. I restart again, and it goes right back to the original "preparing windows" shit. Hell, I cant even access safe mode with networking anymore because ive started getting the message there too
My question is: is my harddrive beginning the process of kicking the bucket? Is my windows install corrupt? The hdd is almost six years old now, and has seen heavy use. Windows 7 by the way. I honestly wouldnt be surprised if Microsoft were bricking pcs that havent "upgraded" to 10

I have an F555L Asus laptop with Nvidea video card (GeForce 920 M). For some reason however, it operates as if the video card isn't working. I checked everything and according to winblows it's operating just fine. But whenever I run any game it gives a really bad prestation, worse than others who have a similar laptop as me that are a few generations older. I feel like there's something wrong with my card or the driver, but I installed the drivers again recently from scratch and it didn't help.

I have an Anime Club at the University I go to. I took over the role of streamer from the last person, when they graduated.
I just get .torrent files of the animes we decide on watching from nyaa.se, in 720p, and torrent them.
Problem here, is that I tried Vuze AND uTorrent, now using qbittorrent. Whenever I try seeding, the upload speed is at a constant 0 every time, no matter how I change the upload/download speeds I already have. Downloading is always just fine, and the speed is decent. It's just seeding that always fails for me, for a reason that I don't fucking know.
I only started torrenting shit three to four weeks ago, and only the episodes for the club nights. I read the guide in the stickied post in the catalog here on /t/, and I got nothing. Posted on /t/, they told me to come here.

Alright, I need some help. For about a month my computer has been noticeably slow to boot (go from BIOS splash to log in screen). If I restart or shutdown the computer after this initial log-in, then subsequent bootups are normal speed. After I actually log in everything is normal and I don't have any problems or performance issues.
Today when I started my computer it told me it failed to start and tried to run startup repair, which didn't do anything. I restarted the computer and this time it did boot. What could be the problem?

I have no wireless connectivity on my thinkpad t440s with ubuntu 15.10 on kernel 4.2.0-22 generic. I downloaded up to date firmware and have copied the file to /lib/firmware and do not know how to proceed.
The intel installation readme says my kernel needs to be reconfigured which I'm guessing means pointing it to the new firmware.
