Is the Phenom II the best CPU AMD has ever made?

The Phenom II were a better choice than the Core 2 Quad, but now it's outdated and outclassed by modern CPUs like Skylake and soon Zen.

If you pair it with a 980ti or R9 390 yeah, but a 270x or GTX 760 is just fine with it.

I have 965 BE and my friend had 955. Otherwise great CPU, but we both had this exact problem where our CPUs would just freeze about hour after first power up of the day. After hard reset it newer does it again until it has been powered off for a while. Ridiculous error if you ask me and we couldn't figure out what causes it or how we could avoid it.

Phenom II 940BE here. I've gotten it as high as 3.75ghz, but even so I need 1.5v to get there, and the board its on is not designed to handle that kind of power draw, as evidenced when I finally charred the CPU power plug socket from the power draw. Almost fried the board.

My problem is that it heats the room, I've managed to keep it kinda cool by using the conservative governor but if I could get something with a lower TDP, that would be great.
