Just use RedMorph

Isn't that only true with acceptable ads enabled though?
I'm pretty sure all remaining ABP users/shills on /g/ at the very least have turned that off.

I've given up on all JS based ad blockers.

I abuse /etc/hosts.

bmo@ubuntu ~> head /etc/hosts

# This file is a merged collection of hosts from reputable sources,
# with a dash of crowd sourcing via Github
#
# Project home page: https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts
#
# Current sources:
# adaway.org
# malwaredomainlist.com
# mvps.org
# someonewhocares.org

Partying like it's 1999.
>>
>>52974551
You only have to pay for their VPN service, I don't see why this should make it a worse AdBlocker.
If anything I don't like that it's still only available on Chrome
>>
>>52974611
Still closed source, shill
>>
>>52974633
>muh open source
If something is opensource, that's a bonus for it.
But I don't see it as a requirement to be a good software.
>>
noscript
>>
>>52974668
For all we know it could be just the source code for adblock + botnet
>>
>>52974668

What do they have to hide?
>>
>>52972899
It breaks my heart seeing the online ad industry hurting like this

>One ad tracked in the study was a video spot for Chrysler that ran last year on Saveur.tv, a site based on the food and travel lifestyle magazine. Only 2 percent of the ad views registered as human, according to a person who was briefed on data provided to the study’s participants.

>>
>>52974244
it blocks ads whereas /g/ prefers to hide them

I use Ghostery alongside uBlock Origin, NoScript, and HTTPSEverywhere for its cookie blocking.

They can go fuck themselves. We had free websites before online ads.

How toxic is this set-up?
>>
>>52975985
>adblockers
NoScript, RequestPolicy, RefControl, Self-Destructing Cookies and disabling Flash/Silverlight etc. block 90% of possible threats. HTTPSEverywhere, AdAway hosts file and Web Of Trust block another 5%.

Also, Ghostery is literally botnet owned by the company called Better Advertisment.

Can you explain what decentraleyes even does?
>>
Is there a non-botnet alternative to Ghostery that does cookie blocking?
>>
>>52976101
Self-Destructing Cookies.
>>
>>52976076
>Can you explain what decentraleyes even does?
Based on the description alone, I'd say it locally caches things like jquery or bootstrap, and then when sites request those common files from a CDN, it intercepts the request and just hands over the file it already has locally.

Which is something uMatrix can already do, like most of the addons in that list
>>
>>52976201
>something uMatrix can already do
how?

ublock origin, httpseverywhere and privacy badger here.
Do I need anything else?
>>
>>52976238
uMatrix can rape your mother and give you a little brother with Ryan Reynolds DNA
>>
>>52976161
I use that too. Is it able to outright block cookies though?
>>
>>52972899
uBlock Origin is best
>>
>>52975409

too lazy to move to something else
>>
>>52977526
I don't see the point of outright blocking the cookies, unless you literally never close the site's tabs, in which case - what's the point?
But if it's your business, Cookie Manager does it.
>>
>>52975985
here is what you should do:
1. replace adblock edge with ublock origin (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/) or adblock plus, because even though it's not as good, it's at-least maintained.

2. uninstall disconnect, and subscribe to their filters with ublock or abp instead (see here for a list: https://github.com/chrisaljoudi/uBlock/issues/1406#issue-80697212) firefox 44 allows one to subcribe to one disconnect filter list out of the box btw (preference > privacy > use tracking protection). choose your list, then enable tracking protection globally in about:config by setting privacy.trackingprotection.enabled to true.

3. enjoy a more efficient setup.
>>
ublock origin is great

ublock origin is love
>>
i use adblock plus and no script

if ublock didnt literally actively shill on /g/ i might use it
>>
>>52978727
i don't think there's an organized shilling effort by any means, but some people do get out of control with the ublock posts. all the shitposting about it when it first started getting noticed made me wait 2 or 3 months to even try it out. i did try it out though, and eventually switched from abp.
>>
What are the best filters to use?
>>
>>52979371
Everything
>>
>>52979371
in ublock, i keep all the ublock specific filters enabled, except for the ones marked "experimental". i also enable adblock warning removal list, fanboy's enhanced tracking list, malware filter list by disconnect, fanboy's annoyance list, and then subscribe to this under custom: https://easylist-downloads.adblockplus.org/easyprivacy+easylist.txt

gets the job done. i also use a pretty comprehensive hosts file for my system merged from a bunch of different sources.
