Does anyone know any good sub-200 dollar netbooks/laptops?

I'm looking for good Linux driver support, 10-12 inch screen, very light weight (under ~5lb).

I found what would be perfect for me, the ASUS X205TA (pic related). It would have been perfect except you cant upgrade it's memory and it has shitty driver support.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Also, /cpd/ general.

>>52961509
yeah I can't really help with your request, still tho,I have a suggestion for others

> Kensington Keyfolio Pro 2 Universal

yeah,name is rubbish or whatever,BUT

> comfy to carry around in a backpack/suitcase
> incredible battery life
> offers protection for your tablet/6" inch+ phone
> compatible with almost anything if it has bluetooth (so far i've tried it with Samsung Smart Tv,ps4,iphone,samsung galaxy s6 edge, and even with my laptop using a bluetooth adaptor

anyway, I dig it

I am really happy that this general is now a thing. Very comfy.

Sub $200 netbook I gotta throw my hat in for the ThinkPad X120e or X131e, very comfy and very nice overall, the trackpoint really makes it a great machine.

It will only be a matter of time before I can replace this with a better comfy device (I already have a tablet so that's not an option).

>>52961509
I would never buy one of these, but the keyboards on newer asus laptops are far better feeling than they look.

Get the acer aspire one and remove the win10 botnet from it, 32gb SSD 2g ram all you need

MSI Wind U200. Superior in every way. Actual 64-bit processor. Up to 4Gb RAM. Wireless works with Linux. 4 hours battery, can get extended 6 hour batteries from eBay. 12" 1366x768 screen. HDMI and VGA out.
>>
Is there anything like the Lifebook P1630's form factor but with better specs?

Maybe just fucking save up for a macbook pro and download Linux. Fastest laptop on the market

My X205ta typically gets 10-11 hours battery life with standard usage, so not better in every way.

Pic related, comfy devices I have lying around for shit posting. Not included in picture is Thinkpad X60 and Acer Aspire One ZG5. Can't wait for the Pocket C.H.I.P. to ship so I'll have another device to add to the cycle.

Why did the Palmtop line died ? This form factor was invented in 1989 and was a thing during the 90s and then it died before the 2000s happen.

Here's a video of the very first palmtop computer:

the probably was probably as uselessles weak then at is it now. If somebody put an i3, 4 or 8gb RAM, and a decent screen into onto one of these netbooks it might be worth a shit. As-is they just note takers and very light web browsers. I'm not going to get anything bigger than a phone if I can't run Android Studio on it

holy shit that's a lot of bezel

tons of options out there m8, 11 inch chromebooks/windows laptops, cheap windows tablets etc.
>>

this one is nice, but you should move to the **20 series
i went for the X220T, it's comfy

so which one of these has the longest battery life?

I could use a small machine to just browse the net and code javascript but with a solid keyboard, unlike the surface which is great for a lot of stuff but not for car rides, for instance

Because it's hip, it's trendy, it's what fucking apple does. The arrow keys trigger me the most though.

>>

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

good one thinkfag
>>
>>52969447
I didn't even notice it, really fucking bad.

A few years ago I got a laptop purely based on the specs and was disappointed to not only find out the keyboard was crap but also the monitor was 1366x768
>>
>>52969410
trackpad is way too fucking big on this thing, i always hit it when im typing
>>
>>52969449
I can run a linux virtual machine on my surface just fine, it's pretty neat
>>
>>52969467
I like almost everything about surface, but I'm not a Windows guy. I wanted to install linux on it, not run it in vm
>>
>>52969418
Those kinds of keys work fine. Other keyboard would probably just give the keys some bevel which functions just the same. I agree with the other anon that the arrows look mega bad. Fn keys need to die as well.
>>
>>52969458
>1366x768
Mostly because that's already large for laptops up to 12.5". 13.3" and up really should have at least 1600x900.
>>
>>52969548
sure in an <11'' I can live with it but on anything else it's unacceptable

I was thinking about getting a chromebook and installing Linux but I'd spend money just upgrading the storage.

I know I want something preferably 11-13" but I'm trying to keep the price down to $300 or less.

Posting this on my Ideapad S10-3s. Just got it yesterday and did a clean up for it and put a SSD for this netbook. It's snappy right now on window 7 but need to do some setup on it to see if it's work the money I spend on it ($54 USD).
>>
>>52970211
I would settle for an i3 but that sounds nice
>>
>>52962231
Wanted one for years. This thread made me go on eBay and now I have one on the way. Only 150 canadabucks. So, basically free in USD.
